Surah 87
الأعلىAl-A'la
The Most High · 19 verses · 72 words
بِسْمِIn (the) nameاللهِ(of) Allahالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousالرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful
سَبِّحِGlorifyاسْمَ(the) nameرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordالْأَعْلَىthe Most High
Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High
الَّذِىThe One Whoخَلَقَcreatedفَسَوَّىٰthen proportioned
Who created and proportioned
وَالَّذِىAnd the One Whoقَدَّرَmeasuredفَهَدَىٰthen guided
And who destined and [then] guided
وَالَّذِىٓAnd the One Whoأَخْرَجَbrings forthالْمَرْعَىٰthe pasture
And who brings out the pasture
فَجَعَلَهُۥAnd then makes itغُثَآءًstubbleأَحْوَىٰdark
And [then] makes it black stubble
سَنُقْرِئُكَWe will make you reciteفَلَاso notتَنسَىٰٓyou will forget
We will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget
إِلَّاExceptمَاwhatشَآءَwillsاللهُAllahإِنَّهُۥIndeed Heيَعْلَمُknowsالْجَهْرَthe manifestوَمَاand whatيَخْفَىٰis hidden
Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden
وَنُيَسِّرُكَAnd We will ease youلِلْيُسْرَىٰto the ease
And We will ease you toward ease
فَذَكِّرْSo remindإِنifنَّفَعَتِbenefitsالذِّكْرَىٰthe reminder
So remind, if the reminder should benefit
سَيَذَّكَّرُHe will pay heedمَن(one) whoيَخْشَىٰfears (Allah)
He who fears [Allah] will be reminded
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَاAnd will avoid itالْأَشْقَىthe wretched one
But the wretched one will avoid it
الَّذِىThe one whoيَصْلَىwill burnالنَّارَ(in) the Fireالْكُبْرَىٰ[the] great
[He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire
ثُمَّThenلَاnotيَمُوتُhe will dieفِيهَاthereinوَلَاand notيَحْيَىٰwill live
Neither dying therein nor living
قَدْCertainlyأَفْلَحَhas succeededمَن(one) whoتَزَكَّىpurifies (himself)
He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself
وَذَكَرَAnd remembersاسْمَ(the) nameرَبِّهِۦ(of) his Lordفَصَلَّىٰand prays
And mentions the name of his Lord and prays
بَلْNay!تُؤْثِرُونَYou preferالْحَيَاةَthe lifeالدُّنْيَا(of) the world
But you prefer the worldly life
وَالْآخِرَةُWhile the Hereafterخَيْرٌ(is) betterوَأَبْقَىٰٓand everlasting
While the Hereafter is better and more enduring
إِنَّIndeedهَٰذَاthisلَفِىsurely (is) inالصُّحُفِthe Scripturesالْأُولَىٰ[the] former
Indeed, this is in the former scriptures
صُحُفِ(The) Scripturesإِبْرَاهِيمَ(of) Ibrahimوَمُوسَىٰand Musa
The scriptures of Abraham and Moses
