Surah 85
البروجAl-Buruj
The Mansions of the Stars · 22 verses · 109 words
بِسْمِIn (the) nameاللهِ(of) Allahالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousالرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful
وَالسَّمَآءِBy the skyذَاتِcontainingالْبُرُوجِthe constellations
By the sky containing great stars
وَالْيَوْمِAnd the DayالْمَوْعُودِPromised
And [by] the promised Day
وَشَاهِدٍAnd (the) witnessوَمَشْهُودٍand what is witnessed
And [by] the witness and what is witnessed
قُتِلَDestroyed wereأَصْحَابُ(the) companionsالْأُخْدُودِ(of) the pit
Cursed were the companions of the trench
النَّارِ(Of) the fireذَاتِfullالْوَقُودِ(of) the fuel
[Containing] the fire full of fuel
إِذْWhenهُمْtheyعَلَيْهَاby itقُعُودٌ(were) sitting
When they were sitting near it
وَهُمْAnd theyعَلَىٰoverمَاwhatيَفْعَلُونَthey were doingبِالْمُؤْمِنِينَto the believersشُهُودٌwitnesses
And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses
وَمَاAnd notنَقَمُواthey resentedمِنْهُمْ[of] themإِلَّآexceptأَنthatيُؤْمِنُواthey believedبِٱللّٰهِin Allahالْعَزِيزِthe All-Mightyالْحَمِيدِthe Praiseworthy
And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy
الَّذِىThe One Whoلَهُۥfor Himمُلْكُ(is) the dominionالسَّمَاوَاتِ(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِand the earthوَٱللّٰهُand Allahعَلَىٰonكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingشَهِيدٌ(is) a Witness
To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, over all things, is Witness
إِنَّIndeedالَّذِينَthose whoفَتَنُواpersecutedالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believing menوَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِand the believing womenثُمَّthenلَمْnotيَتُوبُواthey repentedفَلَهُمْthen for themعَذَابُ(is the) punishmentجَهَنَّمَ(of) Hellوَلَهُمْand for themعَذَابُ(is the) punishmentالْحَرِيقِ(of) the Burning Fire
Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire
إِنَّIndeedالَّذِينَthose whoاٰمَنُواْbelieveوَعَمِلُواand doالصَّالِحَاتِthe righteous deedsلَهُمْfor themجَنَّاتٌ(will be) Gardensتَجْرِىflowمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath itالْأَنْهَارُthe riversذَٰلِكَThatالْفَوْزُ(is) the successالْكَبِيرُthe great
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment
إِنَّIndeedبَطْشَ(the) Gripرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordلَشَدِيدٌ(is) surely strong
Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe
إِنَّهُۥIndeed HeهُوَHeيُبْدِئُoriginatesوَيُعِيدُand repeats
Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats
وَهُوَAnd Heالْغَفُورُ(is) the Oft-Forgivingالْوَدُودُthe Most Loving
And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate
ذُوOwner (of)الْعَرْشِthe Throneالْمَجِيدُthe Glorious
Honorable Owner of the Throne
فَعَّالٌDoerلِّمَاof whatيُرِيدُHe intends
Effecter of what He intends
هَلْHas?أَتَاكَcome to youحَدِيثُ(the) storyالْجُنُودِ(of) the hosts
Has there reached you the story of the soldiers
فِرْعَوْنَFiraunوَثَمُودَand Thamud
[Those of] Pharaoh and Thamud
بَلِNay!الَّذِينَThose whoكَفَرُواdisbelieveفِى(are) inتَكْذِيبٍdenial
But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial
وَٱللّٰهُBut Allahمِنfromوَرَآئِهِمbehind themمُّحِيطٌencompasses
While Allah encompasses them from behind
بَلْNay!هُوَItقُرْآنٌ(is) a QuranمَّجِيدٌGlorious
But this is an honored Qur'an
فِىInلَوْحٍa TabletمَّحْفُوظٍGuarded
[Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate
