Surah 79
النازعاتAn-Nazi'at
Those who drag forth · 46 verses · 179 words
بِسْمِIn (the) nameاللهِ(of) Allahالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousالرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful
وَالنَّازِعَاتِBy those who extractغَرْقًاviolently
By those [angels] who extract with violence
وَالنَّاشِطَاتِAnd those who draw outنَشْطًاgently
And [by] those who remove with ease
وَالسَّابِحَاتِAnd those who glideسَبْحًاswimming
And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming
فَالسَّابِقَاتِAnd those who race each otherسَبْقًا(in) a race
And those who race each other in a race
فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِAnd those who arrangeأَمْرًا(the) matter
And those who arrange [each] matter
يَوْمَ(The) Dayتَرْجُفُwill quakeالرَّاجِفَةُthe quaking one
On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation]
تَتْبَعُهَاFollows itالرَّادِفَةُthe subsequent
There will follow it the subsequent [one]
قُلُوبٌHeartsيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayوَاجِفَةٌwill palpitate
Hearts, that Day, will tremble
أَبْصَارُهَاTheir eyesخَاشِعَةٌhumbled
Their eyes humbled
يَقُولُونَThey sayأَءِنَّاWill we?لَمَرْدُودُونَindeed be returnedفِىtoالْحَافِرَةِthe former state
They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]
أَئِذَاWhat! When?كُنَّاwe areعِظَامًاbonesنَّخِرَةًdecayed
Even if we should be decayed bones
قَالُواْThey sayتِلْكَThisإِذًاthenكَرَّةٌ(would be) a returnخَاسِرَةٌlosing
They say, "That, then, would be a losing return
فَإِنَّمَاThen onlyهِىَitزَجْرَةٌ(will be) a shoutوَاحِدَةٌsingle
Indeed, it will be but one shout
فَإِذَاAnd behold!هُمTheyبِالسَّاهِرَةِ(will be) awakened
And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface
هَلْHas?أتَاكَ(there) come to youحَدِيثُ(the) storyمُوسَىٰٓ(of) Musa
Has there reached you the story of Moses
إِذْWhenنَادَاهُcalled himرَبُّهُۥhis Lordبِالْوَادِin the valleyالْمُقَدَّسِthe sacredطُوًى(of) Tuwa
When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa
اذْهَبْGoإِلَىٰtoفِرْعَوْنَFiraunإِنَّهُۥIndeed heطَغَىٰ(has) transgressed
Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed
فَقُلْAnd sayهَلWould?لَّكَ[for] youإِلَىٰٓ[to]أَن[that]تَزَكَّىpurify yourself
And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself
وَأَهْدِيَكَAnd I will guide youإِلَىٰtoرَبِّكَyour Lordفَتَخْشَىٰso you would fear
And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]
فَأَرَاهُThen he showed himالْاٰيَةَthe signالْكُبْرَىٰthe great
And he showed him the greatest sign
فَكَذَّبَBut he deniedوَعَصَىٰand disobeyed
But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed
ثُمَّThenأَدْبَرَhe turned his backيَسْعَىٰstriving
Then he turned his back, striving
فَحَشَرَAnd he gatheredفَنَادَىٰand called out
And he gathered [his people] and called out
فَقَالَThen he saidأَنَاI amرَبُّكُمُyour Lordالْأَعْلَىٰthe Most High
And said, "I am your most exalted lord
فَأَخَذَهُSo seized himاللهُAllahنَكَالَ(with) an exemplary punishmentالْاٰخِرَةِ(for) the lastوَالْأُولَىٰٓand the first
So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]
إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَعِبْرَةًsurely (is) a lessonلِّمَنfor whoeverيَخْشَىٰٓfears
Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]
ءَأَنتُمْAre you?أَشَدُّa more difficultخَلْقًاcreationأَمِorالسَّمَآءُthe heavenبَنَاهَاHe constructed it
Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? Allah constructed it
رَفَعَHe raisedسَمْكَهَاits ceilingفَسَوَّاهَاand proportioned it
He raised its ceiling and proportioned it
وَأَغْطَشَAnd He darkenedلَيْلَهَاits nightوَأَخْرَجَand brought outضُحَاهَاits brightness
And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness
وَالْأَرْضَAnd the earthبَعْدَafterذَٰلِكَthatدَحَاهَآHe spread it
And after that He spread the earth
أَخْرَجَHe brought forthمِنْهَاfrom itمَآءَهَاits waterوَمَرْعَاهَاand its pasture
He extracted from it its water and its pasture
وَالْجِبَالَAnd the mountainsأَرْسَاهَاHe made them firm
And the mountains He set firmly
مَتَاعًا(As) a provisionلَّكُمْfor youوَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْand for your cattle
As provision for you and your grazing livestock
فَإِذَاBut whenجَآءَتِcomesالطَّآمَّةُthe Overwhelming Calamityالْكُبْرَىٰthe great
But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity
يَوْمَ(The) Dayيَتَذَكَّرُwill rememberالْإِنسَانُmanمَاwhatسَعَىٰhe strove (for)
The Day when man will remember that for which he strove
وَبُرِّزَتِAnd will be made manifestالْجَحِيمُthe Hellfireلِمَنto (him) whoيَرَىٰsees
And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see
فَأَمَّاThen as forمَن(him) whoطَغَىٰtransgressed
So as for he who transgressed
وَآثَرَAnd preferredالْحَيَاةَthe lifeالدُّنْيَا(of) the world
And preferred the life of the world
فَإِنَّThen indeedالْجَحِيمَthe Hellfireهِىَitالْمَأْوَىٰ(is) the refuge
Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge
وَأَمَّاBut as forمَنْ(him) whoخَافَfearedمَقَامَstandingرَبِّهِۦ(before) his Lordوَنَهَىand restrainedالنَّفْسَhis soulعَنِfromالْهَوَىٰthe vain desires
But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination
فَإِنَّThen indeedالْجَنَّةَParadiseهِىَit (is)الْمَأْوَىٰthe refuge
Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَThey ask youعَنِaboutالسَّاعَةِthe Hour (Qeyama)أَيَّانَwhenمُرْسَاهَا(is) its arrival
They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival
فِيمَIn what?أَنتَ(are) youمِن[of]ذِكْرَاهَآ(to) mention it
In what [position] are you that you should mention it
إِلَىٰToرَبِّكَyour Lordمُنتَهَاهَآ(is) its finality
To your Lord is its finality
إِنَّمَآOnlyأَنتَyouمُنذِرُ(are) a warnerمَن(for him) whoيَخْشَاهَاfears it
You are only a warner for those who fear it
كَأَنَّهُمْAs though theyيَوْمَ(the) Dayيَرَوْنَهَاthey see itلَمْnotيَلْبَثُوٓاthey had remainedإِلَّاexceptعَشِيَّةًan eveningأَوْorضُحَاهَاa morning thereof
It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof
