Surah 77
المرسلاتAl-Mursalat
The Emissaries · 50 verses · 181 words
بِسْمِIn (the) nameاللهِ(of) Allahالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousالرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful
وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِBy the ones sent forthعُرْفًاone after another
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts
فَالْعَاصِفَاتِAnd the winds that blowعَصْفًاviolently
And the winds that blow violently
وَالنَّاشِرَاتِAnd the ones that scatterنَشْرًاfar and wide
And [by] the winds that spread [clouds]
فَالْفَارِقَاتِAnd those who separateفَرْقًا(by the) Criterion
And those [angels] who bring criterion
فَالْمُلْقِيَاتِAnd those who bring downذِكْرًا(the) Reminder
And those [angels] who deliver a message
عُذْرًا(As) justificationأَوْorنُذْرًاwarning
As justification or warning
إِنَّمَاIndeed whatتُوعَدُونَyou are promisedلَوَاقِعٌwill surely occur
Indeed, what you are promised is to occur
فَإِذَاSo whenالنُّجُومُthe starsطُمِسَتْare obliterated
So when the stars are obliterated
وَإِذَاAnd whenالسَّمَآءُthe heavenفُرِجَتْis cleft asunder
And when the heaven is opened
وَإِذَاAnd whenالْجِبَالُthe mountainsنُسِفَتْare blown away
And when the mountains are blown away
وَإِذَاAnd whenالرُّسُلُthe Messengersأُقِّتَتْare gathered to their appointed time
And when the messengers' time has come
لِأَىِّFor whatيَوْمٍDayأُجِّلَتْare (these) postponed
For what Day was it postponed
لِيَوْمِFor (the) Dayالْفَصْلِ(of) Judgment
For the Day of Judgement
وَمَآAnd what?أَدْرَاكَwill make you knowمَاwhat?يَوْمُ(is the) Dayالْفَصْلِ(of) the Judgment
And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement
وَيْلٌWoeيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayلِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَto the deniers
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
أَلَمْDid not?نُهْلِكِWe destroyالْأَوَّلِينَthe former (people)
Did We not destroy the former peoples
ثُمَّThenنُتْبِعُهُمُWe follow them upالْاٰخِرِينَ(with) the later ones
Then We will follow them with the later ones
كَذَٰلِكَThusنَفْعَلُWe dealبِالْمُجْرِمِينَwith the criminals
Thus do We deal with the criminals
وَيْلٌWoeيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayلِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَto the deniers
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
أَلَمْDid not?نَخْلُقكُّمWe create youمِّنfromمَّآءٍa waterمَّهِينٍdespicable
Did We not create you from a liquid disdained
فَجَعَلْنَاهُThen We placed itفِىinقَرَارٍan abodeمَّكِينٍsafe
And We placed it in a firm lodging
إِلَىٰForقَدَرٍa periodمَّعْلُومٍknown
For a known extent
فَقَدَرْنَاSo We measuredفَنِعْمَand Bestالْقَٰدِرُونَ(are We to) measure!
And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine
وَيْلٌWoeيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayلِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَto the deniers
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
أَلَمْHave not?نَجْعَلِWe madeالْأَرْضَthe earthكِفَاتًاa receptacle
Have We not made the earth a container
أَحْيَآءً(For the) livingوَأَمْوَاتًاand (the) dead
Of the living and the dead
وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We madeفِيهَاthereinرَوَاسِىَfirmly set mountainsشَامِخَاتٍloftyوَأَسْقَيْنَاكُمand We gave you to drinkمَّآءًwaterفُرَاتًاsweet
And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water
وَيْلٌWoeيوْمَئِذٍthat Dayلِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَto the deniers
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
انطَلِقُوٓاProceedإِلَىٰtoمَاwhatكُنتُمyou used toبِهِۦin itتُكَذِّبُونَdeny
[They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny
انطَلِقُوٓاProceedإِلَىٰtoظِلٍّa shadowذِىhavingثَلَاثِthreeشُعَبٍcolumns
Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns
لَّاNoظَلِيلٍcool shadeوَلَاand notيُغْنِىavailingمِنَagainstاللَّهَبِthe flame
[But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame
إِنَّهَاIndeed itتَرْمِيthrows upبِشَرَرٍsparksكَالْقَصْرِas the fortress
Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress
كَأَنَّهُۥAs if they (were)جِمَالَتٌcamelsصُفْرٌyellow
As if they were yellowish [black] camels
وَيْلٌWoeيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayلِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَto the deniers
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
هَٰذَاThisيَوْمُ(is) a Dayلَاnotيَنطِقُونَthey will speak
This is a Day they will not speak
وَلَاAnd notيُؤْذَنُwill it be permittedلَهُمْfor themفَيَعْتَذِرُونَto make excuses
Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse
وَيْلٌWoeيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayلِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَto the deniers
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
هَٰذَاThisيَوْمُ(is the) Dayالْفَصْلِ(of) JudgmentجَمَعْنَاكُمْWe have gathered youوَالْأَوَّلِينَand the former (people)
This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples
فَإِنSo ifكَانَisلَكُمْfor youكَيْدٌa planفَكِيدُونِthen plan against Me
So if you have a plan, then plan against Me
وَيْلٌWoeيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayلِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَto the deniers
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
إِنَّIndeedالْمُتَّقِينَthe righteousفِى(will be) inظِلَالٍshadesوَعُيُونٍand springs
Indeed, the righteous will be among shades and springs
وَفَوَاكِهَAnd fruitsمِمَّاfrom whatيَشْتَهُونَthey desire
And fruits from whatever they desire
كُلُواEatوَاشْرَبُواand drinkهَنِيئًا(in) satisfactionبِمَاfor whatكُنتُمْyou used toتَعْمَلُونَdo
[Being told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do
إِنَّاIndeed Weكَذَٰلِكَthusنَجْزِىrewardالْمُحْسِنينَthe good-doers
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good
وَيْلٌWoeيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayلِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَto the deniers
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
كُلُواEatوَتَمَتَّعُواand enjoy yourselvesقَلِيلًاa littleإِنَّكُمindeed youمُّجْرِمُونَ(are) criminals
[O disbelievers], eat and enjoy yourselves a little; indeed, you are criminals
وَيْلٌWoeيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayلِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَto the deniers
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
وَإِذَاAnd whenقِيلَit is saidلَهُمُto themارْكَعُواْBowلَاnotيَرْكَعُونَthey bow
And when it is said to them, "Bow [in prayer]," they do not bow
وَيْلٌWoeيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayلِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَto the deniers
Woe, that Day, to the deniers
فَبِأَىِّThen in what?حَدِيثٍstatementبَعْدَهُۥafter itيُؤْمِنُونَwill they believe
Then in what statement after the Qur'an will they believe
