Surah 76

بِسْمِIn (the) nameاللهِ(of) Allahالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousالرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful
هَلْHas?أَتَىٰ(there) comeعَلَىuponالْإِنسَانِmanحِينٌa periodمِّنَofالدَّهْرِtimeلَمْnotيَكُنhe wasشَيْئًاa thingمَّذْكُورًاmentioned
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned
إِنَّاIndeed Weخَلَقْنَا[We] createdالْإِنسَانَmanمِنfromنُّطْفَةٍa semen-dropأَمْشَاجٍa mixtureنَّبْتَلِيهِ(that) We test himفَجَعَلْنَاهُso We made (for) himسَمِيعًاhearingبَصِيرًاand sight
Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing
إِنَّاIndeed Weهَدَيْنَاهُguided himالسَّبِيلَ(to) the wayإِمَّاwhetherشَاكِرًا(he) be gratefulوَإِمَّاand whetherكَفُورًا(he) be ungrateful
Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful
إِنَّآIndeed Weأَعْتَدْنَا[We] have preparedلِلْكَافِرِينَfor the disbelieversسَلَاسِلَاchainsوَأَغْلَالًاand shacklesوَسَعِيرًاand a Blazing Fire
Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze
إِنَّIndeedالْأَبْرَارَthe righteousيَشْرَبُونَwill drinkمِنfromكَأْسٍa cupكَانَisمِزَاجُهَاits mixtureكَافُورًا(of) Kafur
Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur
عَيْنًاA springيَشْرَبُwill drinkبِهَاfrom itعِبَادُ(the) slavesاللهِ(of) Allahيُفَجِّرُونَهَاcausing it to gush forthتَفْجِيرًاْabundantly
A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]
يُوفُونَThey fulfillبِالنَّذْرِthe vowsوَيَخَافُونَand fearيَوْمًاa Dayكَانَ(which) isشَرُّهُۥits evilمُسْتَطِيرًاwidespread
They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread
وَيُطْعِمُونَAnd they feedالطَّعَامَthe foodعَلَىٰin spite ofحُبِّهِۦlove (for) itمِسْكِينًا(to the) needyوَيَتِيمًاand (the) orphanوَأَسِيرًاand (the) captive
And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive
إِنَّمَاOnlyنُطْعِمُكُمْwe feed youلِوَجْهِfor (the) Countenanceاللهِ(of) AllahلَاNotنُرِيدُwe desireمِنكُمْfrom youجَزَآءًany rewardوَلَاand notشُكُورًاthanks
[Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude
إِنَّاIndeed weنَخَافُwe fearمِنfromرَّبِّنَاour Lordيَوْمًاa Dayعَبُوسًاharshقَمْطَرِيرًاand distressful
Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful
فَوَقَاهُمُBut will protect themاللهُAllahشَرَّ(from the) evilذَٰلِكَ(of) thatالْيَوْمِDayوَلَقَّاهُمْand will cause them to meetنَضْرَةًradianceوَسُرُورًاand happiness
So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness
وَجَزَاهُمAnd will reward themبِمَاbecauseصَبَرُواthey were patientجَنَّةً(with) a Gardenوَحَرِيرًاand silk
And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]
مُتَّكِئِينَRecliningفِيهَاthereinعَلَىonالْأَرَائِكِcouchesلَاNotيَرَوْنَthey will seeفِيهَاthereinشَمْسًاsunوَلَاand notزَمْهَرِيرًاfreezing cold
[They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold
وَدَانِيَةًAnd nearعَلَيْهِمْabove themظِلَالُهَا(are) its shadesوَذُلِّلَتْand will hang lowقُطُوفُهَاits cluster of fruitsتَذْلِيلًاdangling low
And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance
وَيُطَافُAnd will be circulatedعَلَيْهِمamong themبِاٰنِيَةٍvesselsمِّنofفِضَّةٍsilverوَأَكْوَابٍand cupsكَانَتْ(that) areقَوَارِيرَا(of) crystal
And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass]
قَوَارِيرَاCrystal-clearمِنofفِضَّةٍsilverقَدَّرُوهَاThey will determine itsتَقْدِيرًاmeasure
Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure
وَيُسْقَوْنَAnd they will be given to drinkفِيهَاthereinكَأْسًاa cupكَانَisمِزَاجُهَاits mixtureزَنجَبِيلًا(of) Zanjabil
And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger
عَيْنًاA springفِيهَاthereinتُسَمَّىٰnamedسَلْسَبِيلًاSalsabil
[From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel
وَيَطُوفُAnd will circulateعَلَيْهِمْamong themوِلْدَانٌyoung boysمُّخَلَّدُونَmade eternalإِذَاWhenرَأَيْتَهُمْyou see themحَسِبْتَهُمْyou would think themلُؤْلُؤًا(to be) pearlsمَّنثُورًاscattered
There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls
وَإِذَاAnd whenرَأَيْتَyou lookثَمَّthenرَأَيْتَyou will seeنَعِيمًاblessingsوَمُلْكًاand a kingdomكَبِيرًاgreat
And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion
عَالِيَهُمْUpon themثِيَابُ(will be) garmentsسُندُسٍ(of) fine silkخُضْرٌgreenوَإِسْتَبْرَقٌand heavy brocadeوَحُلُّوٓاAnd they will be adornedأَسَاوِرَ(with) braceletsمِنofفِضَّةٍsilverوَسَقَاهُمْand will give them to drinkرَبُّهُمْtheir Lordشَرَابًاa drinkطَهُورًاpure
Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink
إِنَّIndeedهَٰذَاthisكَانَisلَكُمْfor youجَزَآءًa rewardوَكَانَand has beenسَعْيُكُمyour effortمَّشْكُورًاappreciated
[And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated
إِنَّاIndeed Weنَحْنُ[We]نَزَّلْنَا[We] revealedعَلَيْكَto youالْقُرْاٰنَthe Quranتَنزِيلًاprogressively
Indeed, it is We who have sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Qur'an progressively
فَاصْبِرْSo be patientلِحُكْمِfor (the) Commandرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordوَلَاand (do) notتُطِعْobeyمِنْهُمْfrom themاٰثِمًاany sinnerأَوْorكَفُورًاdisbeliever
So be patient for the decision of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or ungrateful [disbeliever]
وَاذْكُرِAnd rememberاسْمَ(the) nameرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordبُكْرَةًmorningوَأَصِيلًاand evening
And mention the name of your Lord [in prayer] morning and evening
وَمِنَAnd ofالَّيْلِthe nightفَاسْجُدْprostrateلَهُۥto Himوَسَبِّحْهُand glorify Himلَيْلًاa nightطَوِيلًاlong
And during the night prostrate to Him and exalt Him a long [part of the] night
إِنَّIndeedهَٰٓؤُلَآءِtheseيُحِبُّونَloveالْعَاجِلَةَthe immediateوَيَذَرُونَand leaveوَرَآءَهُمْbehind themيَوْمًاa Dayثَقِيلًاgrave
Indeed, these [disbelievers] love the immediate and leave behind them a grave Day
نَّحْنُWeخَلَقْنَاهُمْcreated themوَشَدَدْنَآand We strengthenedأَسْرَهُمْtheir formsوَإِذَاand whenشِئْنَاWe willبَدَّلْنَاWe can changeأَمْثَالَهُمْtheir likeness[es]تَبْدِيلًا(with) a change
We have created them and strengthened their forms, and when We will, We can change their likenesses with [complete] alteration
إِنَّIndeedهَٰذِهِۦthisتَذْكِرَةٌ(is) a reminderفَمَنso whoeverشَآءَwillsاتَّخَذَlet him takeإِلَىٰtoرَبِّهِۦhis Lordسَبِيلًاa way
Indeed, this is a reminder, so he who wills may take to his Lord a way
وَمَاAnd notتَشَاؤُونَyou willإِلَّآexceptأَنthatيَشَآءَwillsاللهُAllahإِنَّIndeedاللهَAllahكَانَisعَلِيمًاAll-KnowerحَكِيمًاAll-Wise
And you do not will except that Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise
يُدْخِلُHe admitsمَنwhomيَشَآءُHe willsفِىintoرَحْمَتِهِۦHis mercyوَالظَّالِمِينَbut (for) the wrongdoersأَعَدَّHe has preparedلَهُمْfor themعَذَابًاa punishmentأَلِيمًاpainful
He admits whom He wills into His mercy; but the wrongdoers - He has prepared for them a painful punishment
