بِسْمِIn (the) nameاللهِ(of) Allahالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousالرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful
اقْتَرَبَتِHas come nearالسَّاعَةُthe Hourوَانشَقَّand has splitالْقَمَرُthe moon
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]
وَإِنAnd ifيَرَوْاthey seeاٰيَةًa Signيُعْرِضُواthey turn awayوَيَقُولُواand sayسِحْرٌMagicمُّسْتَمِرٌّcontinuing
And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic
وَكَذَّبُواAnd they deniedوَاتَّبَعُوٓاand followedأَهْوَآءَهُمْtheir desiresوَكُلُّbut (for) everyأَمْرٍmatterمُّسْتَقِرٌّ(will be a) settlement
And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyجَآءَهُمhas come to themمِّنَofالْأَنبَآءِthe informationمَاwhereفِيهِin itمُزْدَجَرٌ(is) deterrence
And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence
حِكْمَةٌWisdomبَالِغَةٌperfectفَمَاbut notتُغْنِwill availالنُّذُرُthe warnings
Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]
فَتَوَلَّSo turn awayعَنْهُمْfrom themيَوْمَ(The) Dayيَدْعُwill callالدَّاعِthe callerإِلَىٰtoشَىْءٍa thingنُّكُرٍterrible
So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding
خُشَّعًا(Will be) humbledأَبْصَارُهُمْtheir eyesيَخْرُجُونَthey will come forthمِنَfromالْأَجْدَاثِthe gravesكَأَنَّهُمْas if they (were)جَرَادٌlocustsمُّنتَشِرٌspreading
Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading
مُّهْطِعِينَRacing aheadإِلَىtowardsالدَّاعِthe callerيَقُولُWill sayالْكَافِرُونَthe disbelieversهَٰذَاThisيَوْمٌ(is) a Dayعَسِرٌdifficult
Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day
كَذَّبَتْDeniedقَبْلَهُمْbefore themقَوْمُ(the) peopleنُوحٍ(of) Nuhفَكَذَّبُواand they deniedعَبْدَنَاOur slaveوَقَالُواand saidمَجْنُونٌA madmanوَازْدُجِرَand he was repelled
The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled
فَدَعَاSo he calledرَبَّهُۥٓhis LordأَنِّىI amمَغْلُوبٌone overpoweredفَانتَصِرْso help
So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help
فَفَتَحْنَآSo We openedأَبْوَابَ(the) gatesالسَّمَآءِ(of) heavenبِمَآءٍwith waterمُّنْهَمِرٍpouring down
Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down
وَفَجَّرْنَاAnd We caused to burstالْأَرْضَthe earthعُيُونًا(with) springsفَالْتَقَىso metالْمَآءُthe water(s)عَلَىٰٓforأَمْرٍa matterقَدْalreadyقُدِرَpredestined
And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined
وَحَمَلْنَاهُAnd We carried himعَلَىٰonذَاتِ(ark) made ofأَلْوَاحٍplanksوَدُسُرٍand nails
And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails
تَجْرِىSailingبِأَعْيُنِنَاbefore Our eyesجَزَآءًa rewardلِّمَنfor (he) whoكَانَwasكُفِرَdenied
Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied
وَلَقَدAnd certainlyتَّرَكْنَاهَآWe left itاٰيَةً(as) a Signفَهَلْso is (there)?مِنanyمُّدَّكِرٍwho will receive admonition
And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember
فَكَيْفَSo how?كَانَwasعَذَابِىMy punishmentوَنُذُرِand My warnings
And how [severe] were My punishment and warning
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyيَسَّرْنَاWe have made easyالْقُرْاٰنَthe Quranلِلذِّكْرِfor remembranceفَهَلْso is (there)?مِنanyمُّدَّكِرٍwho will receive admonition
And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember
كَذَّبَتْDeniedعَادٌAadفَكَيْفَso how?كَانَwasعَذَابِىMy punishmentوَنُذُرِand My warnings
Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning
إِنَّآIndeed Weأَرْسَلْنَا[We] sentعَلَيْهِمْupon themرِيحًاa windصَرْصَرًاfuriousفِىonيَوْمِa dayنَحْسٍ(of) misfortuneمُّسْتَمِرٍّcontinuous
Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune
تَنزِعُPlucking outالنَّاسَmenكَأَنَّهُمْas if they (were)أَعْجَازُtrunksنَخْلٍ(of) date-palmsمُّنقَعِرٍuprooted
Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted
فَكَيْفَSo how?كَانَwasعَذَابِىMy punishmentوَنُذُرِand My warnings
And how [severe] were My punishment and warning
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyيَسَّرْنَاWe have made easyالْقُرْاٰنَthe Quranلِلذِّكْرِfor remembranceفَهَلْso is (there)?مِنanyمُّدَّكِرٍwho will receive admonition
And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember
كَذَّبَتْDeniedثَمُودُThamudبِالنُّذُرِthe warnings
Thamud denied the warning
فَقَالُوٓاAnd saidأَبَشَرًاIs (it) a human being?مِّنَّاamong usوَاحِدًاoneنَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ(that) we should follow himإِنَّآIndeed weإِذًاthenلَّفِى(will be) surely inضَلَالٍerrorوَسُعُرٍand madness
And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness
أَؤُلْقِىَHas been sent?الذِّكْرُthe Reminderعَلَيْهِto himمِنfromبَيْنِنَاamong usبَلْNayهُوَheكَذَّابٌ(is) a liarأَشِرٌinsolent
Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar
سَيَعْلَمُونَThey will knowغَدًاtomorrowمَّنِwhoالْكَذَّابُ(is) the liarالْأَشِرُthe insolent one
They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar
إِنَّاIndeed Weمُرْسِلُوا(are) sendingالنَّاقَةِthe she-camelفِتْنَةً(as) a trialلَّهُمْfor themفَارْتَقِبْهُمْso watch themوَاصْطَبِرْand be patient
Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient
وَنَبِّئْهُمْAnd inform themأَنَّthatالْمَآءَthe waterقِسْمَةٌ(is) to be sharedبَيْنَهُمْbetween themكُلُّeachشِرْبٍdrinkمُّحْتَضَرٌattended
And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]
فَنَادَوْاBut they calledصَاحِبَهُمْtheir companionفَتَعَاطَىٰand he tookفَعَقَرَand hamstrung
But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]
فَكَيْفَSo how?كَانَwasعَذَابِىMy punishmentوَنُذُرِand My warnings
And how [severe] were My punishment and warning
إِنَّآIndeed Weأَرْسَلْنَا[We] sentعَلَيْهِمْupon themصَيْحَةًthunderous blastوَاحِدَةًsingleفَكَانُواand they becameكَهَشِيمِlike dry twig fragmentsالْمُحْتَظِرِ(used by) a fence builder
Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyيَسَّرْنَاWe have made easyالْقُرْاٰنَthe Quranلِلذِّكْرِfor remembranceفَهَلْso is (there)?مِنanyمُّدَّكِرٍwho will receive admonition
And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember
كَذَّبَتْDeniedقَوْمُ(the) peopleلُوطٍ(of) Lutبِالنُّذُرِthe warnings
The people of Lot denied the warning
إِنَّآIndeed Weأَرْسَلْنَا[We] sentعَلَيْهِمْupon themحَاصِبًاa storm of stonesإِلَّآexceptاٰلَ(the) familyلُوطٍ(of) LutنَّجَّيْنَاهُمWe saved themبِسَحَرٍby dawn
Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn
نِعْمَةً(As) a favorمِّنْfromعِندِنَاUsكَذَٰلِكَThusنَجْزِىWe rewardمَن(one) whoشَكَرَ(is) grateful
As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyأَنذَرَهُمhe warned themبَطْشَتَنَا(of) Our seizureفَتَمَارَوْاbut they disputedبِالنُّذُرِthe warnings
And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyرَاوَدُوهُthey demanded from himعَنaboutضَيْفِهِۦhis guestsفَطَمَسْنَآso We blindedأَعْيُنَهُمْtheir eyesفَذُوقُواSo tasteعَذَابِىMy punishmentوَنُذُرِand My warnings
And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyصَبَّحَهُمseized them in the morningبُكْرَةًearlyعَذَابٌa punishmentمُّسْتَقِرٌّabiding
And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment
فَذُوقُواSo tasteعَذَابِىMy punishmentوَنُذُرِand My warnings
So taste My punishment and warning
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyيَسَّرْنَاWe have made easyالْقُرْاٰنَthe Quranلِلذِّكْرِfor remembranceفَهَلْso is (there)?مِنanyمُّدَّكِرٍwho will receive admonition
And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyجَآءَcameاٰلَ(to the) peopleفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunالنُّذُرُwarnings
And there certainly came to the people of Pharaoh warning
كَذَّبُواThey deniedبِاٰيَاتِنَاOur Signsكُلِّهَاall of themفَأَخَذْنَاهُمْso We seized themأَخْذَ(with) a seizureعَزِيزٍ(of) All-Mightyمُّقْتَدِرٍ(the) Powerful One
They denied Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with a seizure of one Exalted in Might and Perfect in Ability
أَكُفَّارُكُمْAre your disbelievers?خَيْرٌbetterمِّنْthanأُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْthoseأَمْorلَكُمfor youبَرَآءَةٌ(is) an exemptionفِىinالزُّبُرِthe Scriptures
Are your disbelievers better than those [former ones], or have you immunity in the scripture
أَمْOrيَقُولُونَ(do) they sayنَحْنُWeجَمِيعٌ(are) an assemblyمُّنتَصِرٌhelping (each other)
Or do they say, "We are an assembly supporting [each other]
سَيُهْزَمُSoon will be defeatedالْجَمْعُ(their) assemblyوَيُوَلُّونَand they will turnالدُّبُرَ(their) backs
[Their] assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat]
بَلِNayالسَّاعَةُthe Hourمَوْعِدُهُمْ(is) their promised timeوَالسَّاعَةُand the Hourأَدْهَىٰ(will be) more grievousوَأَمَرُّand more bitter
But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter
إِنَّIndeedالْمُجْرِمِينَthe criminalsفِى(are) inضَلَالٍan errorوَسُعُرٍand madness
Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness
يَوْمَ(The) Dayيُسْحَبُونَthey will be draggedفِىintoالنَّارِthe Fireعَلَىٰonوُجُوهِهِمْtheir facesذُوقُواTasteمَسَّ(the) touchسَقَرَ(of) Hell
The Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces [it will be said], "Taste the touch of Saqar
إِنَّاIndeed [We]كُلَّeveryشَىْءٍthingخَلَقْنَاهُWe created itبِقَدَرٍby a measure
Indeed, all things We created with predestination
وَمَآAnd notأَمْرُنَآ(is) Our Commandإِلَّاbutوَاحِدَةٌoneكَلَمْحٍlike the twinklingبِالْبَصَرِ(of) the eye
And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyأَهْلَكْنَاWe destroyedأَشْيَاعَكُمْyour kindsفَهَلْso is (there)?مِنanyمُّدَّكِرٍwho will receive admonition
And We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember
وَكُلُّAnd everyشَىْءٍthingفَعَلُوهُthey didفِى(is) inالزُّبُرِthe written records
And everything they did is in written records
وَكُلُّAnd everyصَغِيرٍsmallوَكَبِيرٍand bigمُسْتَطَرٌ(is) written down
And every small and great [thing] is inscribed
إِنَّIndeedالْمُتَّقِينَthe righteousفِى(will be) inجَنَّاتٍgardensوَنَهَرٍand river
Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers
فِىInمَقْعَدِa seatصِدْقٍ(of) honorعِندَnearمَلِيكٍa KingمُّقْتَدِرٍMost Powerful
In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability
