بِسْمِIn (the) nameاللهِ(of) Allahالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousالرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful
كٓهيعٓصٓKaaf Ha Ya Ain Sad
Kaf, Ha, Ya, 'Ayn, Sad
ذِكْرُ(A) mentionرَحْمَتِ(of the) Mercyرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordعَبْدَهُۥ(to) His servantزَكَرِيَّآZakariya
[This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah
إِذْWhenنَادَىٰhe calledرَبَّهُۥ(to) his Lordنِدَآءًa callخَفِيًّاsecret
When he called to his Lord a private supplication
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy Lord!إِنِّىIndeed [I]وَهَنَ(have) weakenedالْعَظْمُbonesمِنِّىmyوَاشْتَعَلَand flaredالرَّأْسُ(my) headشَيْبًا(with) whiteوَلَمْand notأَكُنI have beenبِدُعَآئِكَin (my) supplication (to) Youرَبِّmy Lordشَقِيًّاunblessed
He said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy
وَإِنِّىAnd indeed Iخِفْتُ[I] fearالْمَوَالِىَthe successorsمِنfromوَرَآئِىafter meوَكَانَتِand isامْرَأَتِىmy wifeعَاقِرًاbarrenفَهَبْSo giveلِى[to] meمِنfromلَّدُنكَYourselfوَلِيًّاan heir
And indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir
يَرِثُنِىWho will inherit meوَيَرِثُand inheritمِنْfromاٰلِ(the) familyيَعْقُوبَ(of) YaqubوَاجْعَلْهُAnd make himرَبِّmy Lordرَضِيًّاpleasing
Who will inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, pleasing [to You]
يَازَكَرِيَّآO Zakariya!إِنَّاIndeed Weنُبَشِّرُكَ[We] give you glad tidingsبِغُلَامٍof a boyاسْمُهُۥhis nameيَحْيَىٰ(will be) YahyaلَمْnotنَجْعَلWe (have) assignedلَّهُۥ[for] itمِنfromقَبْلُbeforeسَمِيًّا(this) name
[He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy Lord!أَنَّىٰHow?يَكُونُcanلِىI haveغُلَامٌa boyوَكَانَتِwhile isامْرَأَتِىmy wifeعَاقِرًاbarrenوَقَدْand indeedبَلَغْتُI have reachedمِنَofالْكِبَرِthe old ageعِتِيًّاextreme
He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age
قَالَHe saidكَذَٰلِكَThusقَالَsaidرَبُّكَyour LordهُوَItعَلَىَّfor Meهَيِّنٌ(is) easyوَقَدْand certainlyخَلَقْتُكَI (have) created youمِنfromقَبْلُbeforeوَلَمْwhile notتَكُyou wereشَيْئًاanything
[An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy Lord!اجْعَلMakeلِّىٓfor meاٰيَةًa signقَالَHe saidاٰيَتُكَYour signأَلَّا(is) that notتُكَلِّمَyou will speakالنَّاسَ(to) the peopleثَلَاثَ(for) threeلَيَالٍnightsسَوِيًّاsound
[Zechariah] said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound
فَخَرَجَThen he came outعَلَىٰtoقَوْمِهِۦhis peopleمِنَfromالْمِحْرَابِthe prayer chamberفَأَوْحَىٰٓand he signaledإِلَيْهِمْto themأَنtoسَبِّحُواglorify (Allah)بُكْرَةً(in) the morningوَعَشِيًّاand (in) the evening
So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] in the morning and afternoon
يَايَحْيَىٰO Yahya!خُذِHoldالْكِتَابَthe Scriptureبِقُوَّةٍwith strengthوَآتَيْنَاهُAnd We gave himالْحُكْمَ[the] wisdomصَبِيًّا(when he was) a child
[Allah] said, "O John, take the Scripture with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy
وَحَنَانًاAnd affectionمِّنfromلَّدُنَّاUsوَزَكَوٰةًand purityوَكَانَand he wasتَقِيًّاrighteous
And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah
وَبَرًّاAnd dutifulبِوَالِدَيْهِto his parentsوَلَمْand notيَكُنhe wasجَبَّارًاa tyrantعَصِيًّاdisobedient
And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant
وَسَلَامٌAnd peace beعَلَيْهِupon himيَوْمَ(the) dayوُلِدَhe was bornوَيَوْمَand (the) dayيَمُوتُhe diesوَيَوْمَand (the) dayيُبْعَثُhe will be raisedحَيًّاalive
And peace be upon him the day he was born and the day he dies and the day he is raised alive
وَاذْكُرْAnd mentionفِىinالْكِتَابِthe BookمَرْيَمَMaryamإِذِwhenانتَبَذَتْshe withdrewمِنْfromأَهْلِهَاher familyمَكَانًا(to) a placeشَرْقِيًّاeastern
And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east
فَاتَّخَذَتْThen she tookمِنfromدُونِهِمْbesides themحِجَابًاa screenفَأَرْسَلْنَآThen We sentإِلَيْهَاto herرُوحَنَاOur Spiritفَتَمَثَّلَthen he assumed the likenessلَهَاfor herبَشَرًا(of) a manسَوِيًّاwell-proportioned
And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man
قَالَتْShe saidإِنِّىٓIndeed Iأَعُوذُ[I] seek refugeبِالرَّحْمَٰنِwith the Most Graciousمِنكَfrom youإِنifكُنتَyou areتَقِيًّاGod fearing
She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allah
قَالَHe saidإِنَّمَآOnlyأَنَاI amرَسُولُa Messengerرَبِّكِ(from) your Lordلِأَهَبَthat I (may) bestowلَكِon youغُلَامًاa sonزَكِيًّاpure
He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy
قَالَتْShe saidأَنَّىٰHow?يَكُونُcan beلِىfor meغُلَامٌa sonوَلَمْwhen notيَمْسَسْنِىhas touched meبَشَرٌa manوَلَمْand notأَكُI amبَغِيًّاunchaste
She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste
قَالَHe saidكَذَٰلِكِThusقَالَsaidرَبُّكِyour LordهُوَItعَلَىَّ(is) for Meهَيِّنٌeasyوَلِنَجْعَلَهُۥٓand so that We will make himاٰيَةًa signلِّلنَّاسِfor the mankindوَرَحْمَةًand a Mercyمِّنَّاfrom UsوَكَانَAnd (it) isأَمْرًاa matterمَّقْضِيًّاdecreed
He said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed
فَحَمَلَتْهُSo she conceived himفَانتَبَذَتْand she withdrewبِهِۦwith himمَكَانًا(to) a placeقَصِيًّاremote
So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place
فَأَجَآءَهَاThen drove herالْمَخَاضُthe pains of childbirthإِلَىٰtoجِذْعِ(the) trunkالنَّخْلَةِ(of) the date-palmقَالَتْShe saidيَالَيْتَنِىO! I wishمِتُّI (had) diedقَبْلَbeforeهَٰذَاthisوَكُنتُand I wasنَسْيًا(in) oblivionمَّنسِيًّاforgotten
And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten
فَنَادَاهَاSo cried to herمِنfromتَحْتِهَاbeneath herأَلَّاThat (do) notتَحْزَنِيyou grieveقَدْverilyجَعَلَ(has) placedرَبُّكِyour Lordتَحْتَكِbeneath youسَرِيًّاa stream
But he called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream
وَهُزِّىٓAnd shakeإِلَيْكِtowards youبِجِذْعِ(the) trunkالنَّخْلَةِ(of) the date-palmتُسَاقِطْit will dropعَلَيْكِupon youرُطَبًاfresh datesجَنِيًّاripe
And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates
فَكُلِىSo eatوَاشْرَبِىand drinkوَقَرِّىand coolعَيْنًا(your) eyesفَإِمَّاAnd ifتَرَيِنَّyou seeمِنَfromالْبَشَرِhuman beingأَحَدًاanyoneفَقُولِىٓthen sayإِنِّىIndeed Iنَذَرْتُ[I] have vowedلِلرَّحْمَٰنِto the Most Graciousصَوْمًاa fastفَلَنْso notأُكَلِّمَI will speakالْيَوْمَtodayإِنسِيًّا(to any) human being
So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man
فَأَتَتْThen she cameبِهِۦwith himقَوْمَهَا(to) her peopleتَحْمِلُهُcarrying himقَالُواْThey saidيَامَرْيَمُO Maryam!لَقَدْCertainlyجِئْتِyou (have) broughtشَيْئًاthingفَرِيًّاan amazing
Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented
يَاأُخْتَO sisterهَارُونَ(of) Harun!مَاNotكَانَwasأَبُوكِyour fatherامْرَأَa manسَوْءٍan evilوَمَاand notكَانَتْwasأُمُّكِyour motherبَغِيًّاunchaste
O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste
فَأَشَارَتْThen she pointedإِلَيْهِto himقَالُواْThey saidكَيْفَHow?نُكَلِّمُ(can) we speakمَن(to one) whoكَانَisفِىinالْمَهْدِthe cradleصَبِيًّاa child
So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child
قَالَHe saidإِنِّىIndeed I amعَبْدُa slaveاللهِ(of) AllahاٰتَانِىَHe gave meالْكِتَابَthe Scriptureوَجَعَلَنِىand made meنَبِيًّاa Prophet
[Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet
وَجَعَلَنِىAnd He (has) made meمُبَارَكًاblessedأَيْنَwhereمَاeverكُنتُI amوَأَوْصَانِىand has enjoined (on) meبِالصَّلَوٰةِ[of] the prayerوَالزَّكَوٰةِand zakahمَاas long asدُمْتُI amحَيًّاalive
And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive
وَبَرًّاAnd dutifulبِوَالِدَتِيto my motherوَلَمْand notيَجْعَلْنِىHe (has) made meجَبَّارًاinsolentشَقِيًّاunblessed
And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant
وَالسَّلَامُAnd peace (be)عَلَىَّon meيَوْمَ(the) dayوُلِدتُّI was bornوَيَوْمَand (the) dayأَمُوتُI will dieوَيَوْمَand (the) DayأُبْعَثُI will be raisedحَيًّاalive
And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive
ذَٰلِكَThatعِيسَى(was) Isaابْنُ(the) sonمَرْيَمَ(of) Maryamقَوْلَa statementالْحَقِّ(of) truthالَّذِىthat whichفِيهِabout itيَمْتَرُونَthey dispute
That is Jesus, the son of Mary - the word of truth about which they are in dispute
مَاNotكَانَ(it) isلِلّٰهِfor AllahأَنthatيَتَّخِذَHe should takeمِنfromوَلَدٍany sonسُبْحَٰنَهُۥٓGlory be to Him!إِذَاWhenقَضَىٰٓHe decreesأَمْرًاa matterفَإِنَّمَاthen onlyيَقُولُHe saysلَهُۥto itكُنBeفَيَكُونُand it is
It is not [befitting] for Allah to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is
وَإِنَّAnd indeedاللهَAllahرَبِّى(is) my Lordوَرَبُّكُمْand your Lordفَاعْبُدُوهُso worship HimهَٰذَاThisصِرَاطٌ(is) a pathمُّسْتَقِيمٌstraight
[Jesus said], "And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path
فَاخْتَلَفَBut differedالْأَحْزَابُthe sectsمِنfromبَيْنِهِمْamong themفَوَيْلٌso woeلِّلَّذِينَto those whoكَفَرُواdisbelieveمِنfromمَّشْهَدِ(the) witnessingيَوْمٍ(of) a Dayعَظِيمٍgreat
Then the factions differed [concerning Jesus] from among them, so woe to those who disbelieved - from the scene of a tremendous Day
أَسْمِعْHow will hear!بِهِمْwith theyوَأَبْصِرْand how (they will) see!يَوْمَ(the) Dayيَأْتُونَنَاthey will come to Usلَٰكِنِbutالظَّالِمُونَthe wrongdoersالْيَوْمَtodayفِى(are) inضَلَالٍerrorمُّبِينٍclear
How [clearly] they will hear and see the Day they come to Us, but the wrongdoers today are in clear error
وَأَنذِرْهُمْAnd warn themيَوْمَ(of the) Dayالْحَسْرَةِ(of) the Regretإِذْwhenقُضِىَhas been decidedالْأَمْرُthe matterوَهُمْAnd theyفِى(are) inغَفْلَةٍheedlessnessوَهُمْand theyلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَbelieve
And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded; and [yet], they are in [a state of] heedlessness, and they do not believe
إِنَّاIndeed Weنَحْنُ[We]نَرِثُ[We] will inheritالْأَرْضَthe earthوَمَنْand whoeverعَلَيْهَا(is) on itوَإِلَيْنَاand to Usيُرْجَعُونَthey will be returned
Indeed, it is We who will inherit the earth and whoever is on it, and to Us they will be returned
وَاذْكُرْAnd mentionفِىinالْكِتَابِthe BookإِبْرَاهِيمَIbrahimإِنَّهُۥIndeed heكَانَwasصِدِّيقًاa man of truthنَّبِيًّاa Prophet
And mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet
إِذْWhenقَالَhe saidلِأَبِيهِto his fatherيَاأَبَتِO my father!لِمَWhy?تَعْبُدُ(do) you worshipمَاthat whichلَاnotيَسْمَعُhearsوَلَاand notيُبْصِرُseesوَلَاand notيُغْنِىbenefitsعَنكَ[to] youشَيْئًا(in) anything
[Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all
يَاأَبَتِO my father!إِنِّىIndeed [I]قَدْverilyجَآءَنِى(has) come to meمِنَofالْعِلْمِthe knowledgeمَاwhatلَمْnotيَأْتِكَcame to youفَاتَّبِعْنِىٓso follow meأَهْدِكَI will guide youصِرَاطًا(to) the pathسَوِيًّاeven
O my father, indeed there has come to me of knowledge that which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path
يَاأَبَتِO my father!لَا(Do) notتَعْبُدِworshipالشَّيْطَانَthe ShaitaanإِنَّIndeedالشَّيْطَانَthe Shaitaanكَانَisلِلرَّحْمَٰنِto the Most Graciousعَصِيًّاdisobedient
O my father, do not worship Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient
يَاأَبَتِO my father!إِنِّىٓIndeed Iأَخَافُ[I] fearأَنthatيَمَسَّكَwill touch youعَذَابٌa punishmentمِّنَfromالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousفَتَكُونَso you would beلِلشَّيْطَانِto the Shaitaanوَلِيًّاa friend
O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]
قَالَHe saidأَرَاغِبٌDo hate?أَنتَyouعَنْ(from)اٰلِهَتِىmy godsيَاإِبْراهِيمُO IbrahimلَئِنSurely ifلَّمْnotتَنتَهِyou desistلَأَرْجُمَنَّكَsurely I will stone youوَاهْجُرْنِىso leave meمَلِيًّا(for) a prolonged time
[His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time
قَالَHe saidسَلَامٌPeace (be)عَلَيْكَon youسَأَسْتَغْفِرُI will ask forgivenessلَكَfor youرَبِّىٓ(from) my LordإِنَّهُۥIndeed Heكَانَisبِيto meحَفِيًّاEver Gracious
[Abraham] said, "Peace will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, He is ever gracious to me
وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْAnd I will leave youوَمَاand whatتَدْعُونَyou invokeمِنfromدُونِbesidesاللهِAllahوَأَدْعُواand I will invokeرَبِّىmy LordعَسَىٰٓMay beأَلَّآthat notأَكُونَI will beبِدُعَآءِin invocationرَبِّى(to) my Lordشَقِيًّاunblessed
And I will leave you and those you invoke other than Allah and will invoke my Lord. I expect that I will not be in invocation to my Lord unhappy
فَلَمَّاSo whenاعْتَزَلَهُمْhe left themوَمَاand whatيَعْبُدُونَthey worshippedمِنfromدُونِbesidesاللهِAllahوَهَبْنَا[and] We bestowedلَهُۥٓ[to] himإِسْحَٰقَIsaacوَيَعْقُوبَand Yaqubوَكُلًّاand each (of them)جَعَلْنَاWe madeنَبِيًّاa Prophet
So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet
وَوَهَبْنَاAnd We bestowedلَهُمto themمِّنofرَّحْمَتِنَاOur Mercyوَجَعَلْنَاand We madeلَهُمْfor themلِسَانَa mentionصِدْقٍtruthfulعَلِيًّاhigh
And We gave them of Our mercy, and we made for them a reputation of high honor
وَاذْكُرْAnd mentionفِىinالْكِتَابِthe BookمُوسَىٰٓMusaإِنَّهُۥIndeed heكَانَwasمُخْلَصًاchosenوَكَانَand wasرَسُولًاa Messengerنَّبِيًّاa Prophet
And mention in the Book, Moses. Indeed, he was chosen, and he was a messenger and a prophet
وَنَادَيْنَاهُAnd We called himمِنfromجَانِبِ(the) sideالطُّورِ(of) the Mountالْأَيْمَنِthe rightوَقَرَّبْنَاهُand we brought him nearنَجِيًّا(for) conversation
And We called him from the side of the mount at [his] right and brought him near, confiding [to him]
وَوَهَبْنَاAnd We bestowedلَهُۥ[to] himمِنfromرَّحْمَتِنَآOur Mercyأَخَاهُhis brotherهَارُونَHarunنَبِيًّاa Prophet
And We gave him out of Our mercy his brother Aaron as a prophet
وَاذْكُرْAnd mentionفِىinالْكِتَابِthe BookإِسْمَٰعِيلَIsmaelإِنَّهُۥIndeed heكَانَwasصَادِقَTRUEالْوَعْدِ(to his) promiseوَكَانَand wasرَسُولًاa Messengerنَّبِيًّاa Prophet
And mention in the Book, Ishmael. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet
وَكَانَAnd he usedيَأْمُرُ(to) enjoinأَهْلَهُۥ(on) his peopleبِالصَّلَوٰةِthe prayerوَالزَّكَوٰةِand zakahوَكَانَand wasعِندَnearرَبِّهِۦhis Lordمَرْضِيًّاpleasing
And he used to enjoin on his people prayer and zakah and was to his Lord pleasing
وَاذْكُرْAnd mentionفِىinالْكِتَابِthe BookإِدْرِيسَIdrisإِنَّهُۥIndeed heكَانَwasصِدِّيقًاtruthfulنَّبِيًّاa Prophet
And mention in the Book, Idrees. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet
وَرَفَعْنَاهُAnd We raised himمَكَانًا(to) a positionعَلِيًّاhigh
And We raised him to a high station
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseالَّذِينَ(were) the ones whomأَنْعَمَbestowed favorاللهُAllahعَلَيْهِمupon themمِّنَfrom (among)النَّبِيِّينَthe Prophetsمِنofذُرِّيَّةِ(the) offspringاٰدَمَ(of) Adamوَمِمَّنْand of thoseحَمَلْنَاWe carriedمَعَwithنُوحٍNuhوَمِنand ofذُرِّيَّةِ(the) offspringإِبْرَاهِيمَ(of) Ibrahimوَإِسْرَائِيلَand Israelوَمِمَّنْand of (those) whomهَدَيْنَاWe guidedوَاجْتَبَيْنَآand We choseإِذَاWhenتُتْلَىٰwere recitedعَلَيْهِمْto themاٰيَاتُ(the) Versesالرَّحْمَٰنِ(of) the Most Graciousخَرُّواthey fellسُجَّدًاprostratingوَبُكِيًّاand weeping
Those were the ones upon whom Allah bestowed favor from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping
فَخَلَفَThen succeededمِنfromبَعْدِهِمْafter themخَلْفٌsuccessorsأَضَاعُواwho neglectedالصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerوَاتَّبَعُواand they followedالشَّهَوَاتِthe lustsفَسَوْفَso soonيَلْقَوْنَthey will meetغَيًّاevil
But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil
إِلَّاExceptمَن(one) whoتَابَrepentedوَآمَنَand believedوَعَمِلَand didصَالِحًاgood (deeds)فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَThen thoseيَدْخُلُونَwill enterالْجَنَّةَParadiseوَلَاand notيُظْلَمُونَthey will be wrongedشَيْئًا(in) anything
Except those who repent, believe and do righteousness; for those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged at all
جَنَّاتِGardensعَدْنٍ(of) Edenالَّتِىwhichوَعَدَpromisedالرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousعِبَادَهُۥ(to) His slavesبِالْغَيْبِin the unseenإِنَّهُۥIndeed [it]كَانَisوَعْدُهُۥHis promiseمَأْتِيًّاsure to come
[Therein are] gardens of perpetual residence which the Most Merciful has promised His servants in the unseen. Indeed, His promise has ever been coming
لَّاNotيَسْمَعُونَthey will hearفِيهَاthereinلَغْوًاvain talkإِلَّاbutسَلَامًاpeaceوَلَهُمْAnd for themرِزْقُهُمْ(is) their provisionفِيهَاthereinبُكْرَةًmorningوَعَشِيًّاand evening
They will not hear therein any ill speech - only [greetings of] peace - and they will have their provision therein, morning and afternoon
تِلْكَThisالْجَنَّةُ(is) ParadiseالَّتِىwhichنُورِثُWe give (as) inheritanceمِنْ[of] (to)عِبَادِنَاOur slavesمَن(the one) whoكَانَisتَقِيًّاrighteous
That is Paradise, which We give as inheritance to those of Our servants who were fearing of Allah
وَمَاAnd notنَتَنَزَّلُwe descendإِلَّاexceptبِأَمْرِby (the) Commandرَبِّكَ(of) your LordلَهُۥTo Him (belongs)مَاwhatبَيْنَbetween ((is) before us)أَيْدِينَاour hands ((is) before us)وَمَاand whatخَلْفَنَا(is) behind usوَمَاand whatبَيْنَ(is) betweenذَٰلِكَthatوَمَاAnd notكَانَisرَبُّكَyour Lordنَسِيًّاforgetful
[Gabriel said], "And we [angels] descend not except by the order of your Lord. To Him belongs that before us and that behind us and what is in between. And never is your Lord forgetful
رَّبُّLordالسَّمَاوَاتِ(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِand the earthوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between both of themفَاعْبُدْهُso worship Himوَاصْطَبِرْand be constantلِعِبَادَتِهِۦin His worshipهَلْDo?تَعْلَمُyou knowلَهُۥfor Himسَمِيًّاany similarity
Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them - so worship Him and have patience for His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him
وَيَقُولُAnd saysالْإِنسَانُ[the] manأَئِذَاDo When?مَاWhat!مِتُّI am deadلَسَوْفَsurely willأُخْرَجُI be brought forthحَيًّاalive
And the disbeliever says, "When I have died, am I going to be brought forth alive
أَوَلَاDoes not?يَذْكُرُrememberالْإِنسَانُ[the] manأَنَّاthat WeخَلَقْنَاهُWe created himمِنfromقَبْلُbeforeوَلَمْwhile notيَكُhe wasشَيْئًاanything
Does man not remember that We created him before, while he was nothing
فَوَرَبِّكَSo by your Lordلَنَحْشُرَنَّهُمْsurely We will gather themوَالشَّيَاطِينَand the devilsثُمَّthenلَنُحْضِرَنَّهُمْsurely We will bring themحَوْلَaroundجَهَنَّمَHellجِثِيًّاbent (on) knees
So by your Lord, We will surely gather them and the devils; then We will bring them to be present around Hell upon their knees
ثُمَّThenلَنَنزِعَنَّsurely We will drag outمِنfromكُلِّeveryشِيعَةٍsectأَيُّهُمْthose of them?أَشَدُّ(who were) worstعَلَىagainstالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousعِتِيًّا(in) rebellion
Then We will surely extract from every sect those of them who were worst against the Most Merciful in insolence
ثُمَّThenلَنَحْنُsurely Weأَعْلَمُknow bestبِالَّذِينَ[of] those whoهُمْ[they]أَوْلَىٰ(are) most worthyبِهَاthereinصِلِيًّا(of) being burnt
Then, surely it is We who are most knowing of those most worthy of burning therein
وَإِنAnd (there is) notمِّنكُمْ(any) of youإِلَّاbutوَارِدُهَا(will be) passing over itكَانَ(This) isعَلَىٰuponرَبِّكَyour Lordحَتْمًاan inevitabilityمَّقْضِيًّاdecreed
And there is none of you except he will come to it. This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed
ثُمَّThenنُنَجِّىWe will deliverالَّذِينَthose whoاتَّقَواْfeared (Allah)وَّنَذَرُand We will leaveالظَّالِمِينَthe wrongdoersفِيهَاthereinجِثِيًّاbent (on) knees
Then We will save those who feared Allah and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees
وَإِذَاAnd whenتُتْلَىٰare recitedعَلَيْهِمْto themاٰيَاتُنَاOur Versesبَيِّنَاتٍclearقَالَsayالَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُواdisbelievedلِلَّذِينَto those whoاٰمَنُواْbelievedأَىُّWhich?الْفَرِيقَيْنِ(of) the two groupsخَيْرٌ(is) betterمَّقَامًا(in) positionوَأَحْسَنُand bestنَدِيًّا(in) assembly
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Which of [our] two parties is best in position and best in association
وَكَمْAnd how many?أَهْلَكْنَاWe destroyedقَبْلَهُمbefore themمِّنofقَرْنٍa generationهُمْtheyأَحْسَنُ(were) betterأَثَاثًا(in) possessionsوَرِئْيًاand appearance
And how many a generation have We destroyed before them who were better in possessions and [outward] appearance
قُلْSayمَنWhoeverكَانَisفِىinالضَّلَالَةِ[the] errorفَلْيَمْدُدْthen surely will extendلَهُfor himالرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousمَدًّاan extensionحَتَّىٰٓuntilإِذَاwhenرَأَوْاthey seeمَاwhatيُوعَدُونَthey were promisedإِمَّاeitherالْعَذَابَthe punishmentوَإِمَّاorالسَّاعَةَthe Hour (Qeyama)فَسَيَعْلَمُونَthen they will knowمَنْwhoهُوَ[he]شَرٌّ(is) worstمَّكَانًا(in) positionوَأَضْعَفُand weakerجُندًا(in) forces
Say, "Whoever is in error - let the Most Merciful extend for him an extension [in wealth and time] until, when they see that which they were promised - either punishment [in this world] or the Hour [of resurrection] - they will come to know who is worst in position and weaker in soldiers
وَيَزِيدُAnd increasesاللهُAllahالَّذِينَthose whoاهْتَدَوْاaccept guidanceهُدًى(in) guidanceوَالْبَاقِيَاتُAnd the everlastingالصَّالِحَاتُgood deedsخَيْرٌ(are) betterعِندَnearرَبِّكَyour Lordثَوَابًا(for) rewardوَخَيْرٌand betterمَّرَدًّا(for) return
And Allah increases those who were guided, in guidance, and the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for recourse
أَفَرَأَيْتَThen have you seen?الَّذِىhe whoكَفَرَdisbelievedبِاٰيَاتِنَاin Our Versesوَقَالَand saidلَأُوتَيَنَّSurely I will be givenمَالًاwealthوَوَلَدًاand children
Then, have you seen he who disbelieved in Our verses and said, "I will surely be given wealth and children [in the next life]
أَاطَّلَعَHas he looked?الْغَيْبَ(into) the unseenأَمِorاتَّخَذَhas he takenعِندَfromالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousعَهْدًاa promise
Has he looked into the unseen, or has he taken from the Most Merciful a promise
كَلَّاNayسَنَكْتُبُWe will recordمَاwhatيَقُولُhe saysوَنَمُدُّand We will extendلَهُۥfor himمِنَfromالْعَذَابِthe punishmentمَدًّاextensively
No! We will record what he says and extend for him from the punishment extensively
وَنَرِثُهُۥAnd We will inherit (from) himمَاwhatيَقُولُhe saysوَيَأْتِينَاand he will come to Usفَرْدًاalone
And We will inherit him [in] what he mentions, and he will come to Us alone
وَاتَّخَذُواAnd they have takenمِنfromدُونِbesidesاللهِAllahاٰلِهَةًgodsلِّيَكُونُواthat they may beلَهُمْfor themعِزًّاan honor
And they have taken besides Allah [false] deities that they would be for them [a source of] honor
كَلَّاNayسَيَكْفُرُونَthey will denyبِعِبَادَتِهِمْtheir worship (of them)وَيَكُونُونَand they will beعَلَيْهِمْagainst themضِدًّاopponents
No! Those "gods" will deny their worship of them and will be against them opponents [on the Day of Judgement]
أَلَمْDo not?تَرَyou seeأَنَّآthat Weأَرْسَلْنَا[We] have sentالشَّيَاطِينَthe devilsعَلَىuponالْكَافِرِينَthe disbelieversتَؤُزُّهُمْinciting themأَزًّۭا(with) incitement
Do you not see that We have sent the devils upon the disbelievers, inciting them to [evil] with [constant] incitement
فَلَاSo (do) notتَعْجَلْyou make hasteعَلَيْهِمْagainst themإِنَّمَاOnlyنَعُدُّWe countلَهُمْfor themعَدًّاa number
So be not impatient over them. We only count out to them a [limited] number
يَوْمَ(The) DayنَحْشُرُWe will gatherالْمُتَّقِينَthe righteousإِلَىtoالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousوَفْدًا(as) a delegation
On the Day We will gather the righteous to the Most Merciful as a delegation
وَنَسُوقُAnd We will driveالْمُجْرِمِينَthe criminalsإِلَىٰtoجَهَنَّمَHellوِرْدًاthirsty
And will drive the criminals to Hell in thirst
لَّاNotيَمْلِكُونَthey will have the powerالشَّفَاعَةَ(of) the intercessionإِلَّاexceptمَنِ(he) whoاتَّخَذَhas takenعِندَfromالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousعَهْدًاa covenant
None will have [power of] intercession except he who had taken from the Most Merciful a covenant
وَقَالُواAnd they sayاتَّخَذَHas takenالرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousوَلَدًاa son
And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son
لَّقَدْVerilyجِئْتُمْyou have put forthشَيْئًاa thingإِدًّاatrocious
You have done an atrocious thing
تَكَادُAlmostالسَّمَاوَاتُthe heavensيَتَفَطَّرْنَget tornمِنْهُtherefromوَتَنشَقُّand splits asunderالْأَرْضُthe earthوَتَخِرُّand collapseالْجِبَالُthe mountainهَدًّا(in) devastation
The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation
أَنThatدَعَوْاthey invokeلِلرَّحْمَٰنِto the Most Graciousوَلَدًاa son
That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son
وَمَاAnd notيَنبَغِىis appropriateلِلرَّحْمَٰنِfor the Most GraciousأَنthatيَتَّخِذَHe should takeوَلَدًاa son
And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son
إِنNotكُلُّallمَنwhoفِى(are) inالسَّمَاوَاتِthe heavensوَالْأَرْضِand the earthإِلَّآbutاٰتِى(will) comeالرَّحْمَٰنِ(to) the Most Graciousعَبْدًا(as) a slave
There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant
لَّقَدْVerilyأَحْصَاهُمْHe has enumerated themوَعَدَّهُمْand counted themعَدًّاa counting
He has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting
وَكُلُّهُمْAnd all of themاٰتِيهِ(will) come (to) Himيَوْمَ(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِ(of) the Resurrectionفَرْدًاalone
And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone
إِنَّIndeedالَّذِينَthose whoاٰمَنُواْbelievedوَعَمِلُواand didالصَّالِحَاتِgood deedsسَيَجْعَلُwill bestowلَهُمُfor themالرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousوُدًّاaffection
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection
فَإِنَّمَاSo onlyيَسَّرْنَاهُWe (have) made it easyبِلِسَانِكَin your tongueلِتُبَشِّرَthat you may give glad tidingsبِهِwith itالْمُتَّقِينَ(to) the righteousوَتُنذِرَand you warnبِهِۦwith itقَوْمًاa peopleلُّدًّاhostile
So, [O Muhammad], We have only made Qur'an easy in the Arabic language that you may give good tidings thereby to the righteous and warn thereby a hostile people
وَكَمْAnd how many?أَهْلَكْنَاWe (have) destroyedقَبْلَهُمbefore themمِّنofقَرْنٍa generationهَلْCan?تُحِسُّyou perceiveمِنْهُمof themمِّنْanyأَحَدٍoneأَوْorتَسْمَعُyou hearلَهُمْfrom themرِكْزًاa sound
And how many have We destroyed before them of generations? Do you perceive of them anyone or hear from them a sound
