بِسْمِIn (the) nameاللهِ(of) Allahالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousالرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful
طسٓمٓTa Seem Meem
Ta, Seen, Meem
تِلْكَTheseاٰيَاتُ(are the) Versesالْكِتَابِ(of) the Bookالْمُبِينِclear
These are the verses of the clear Book
لَعَلَّكَPerhaps youبَاخِعٌ(would) killنَّفْسَكَyourselfأَلَّاthat notيَكُونُواthey becomeمُؤْمِنِينَbelievers
Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers
إِنIfنَّشَأْWe willنُنَزِّلْWe can send downعَلَيْهِمto themمِّنْfromالسَّمَآءِthe skyاٰيَةًa Signفَظَلَّتْso would bendأَعْنَاقُهُمْtheir necksلَهَاto itخَاضِعِينَ(in) humility
If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled
وَمَاAnd (does) notيَأْتِيهِمcome to themمِّنanyذِكْرٍreminderمِّنَfromالرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousمُحْدَثٍnewإِلَّاbutكَانُواtheyعَنْهُfrom itمُعْرِضِينَturn away
And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it
فَقَدْSo verilyكَذَّبُواthey have deniedفَسَيَأْتِيهِمْthen will come to themأَنبَآءُthe newsمَا(of) whatكَانُواthey usedبِهِۦat itيَسْتَهْزِءُونَ(to) mock
For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule
أَوَلَمْDo not?يَرَوْاthey seeإِلَىatالْأَرْضِthe earthكَمْhow many?أَنبَتْنَاWe producedفِيهَاin itمِنofكُلِّeveryزَوْجٍkindكَرِيمٍnoble
Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind
إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَآيَةًsurely (is) a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely Heالْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyالرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
وَإِذْAnd whenنَادَىٰcalledرَبُّكَyour LordمُوسَىٰٓMusaأَنِ[that]ائْتِGoالْقَوْمَ(to) the peopleالظَّالِمِينَ(who are) wrongdoers
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people
قَوْمَ(The) peopleفِرْعَوْنَ(of) FiraunأَلَاWill not?يَتَّقُونَthey fear
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy Lord!إِنِّىٓIndeed Iأَخَافُ[I] fearأَنthatيُكَذِّبُونِthey will deny me
He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
وَيَضِيقُAnd straitensصَدْرِىmy breastوَلَاand notيَنطَلِقُexpresses wellلِسَانِىmy tongueفَأَرْسِلْso sendإِلَىٰforهَارُونَHarun
And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron
وَلَهُمْAnd they haveعَلَىَّagainst meذَنبٌa crimeفَأَخَافُso I fearأَنthatيَقْتُلُونِthey will kill me
And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me
قَالَHe saidكَلَّاNayفَاذْهَبَاgo both of youبِاٰيَاتِنَاwith Our SignsإِنَّاIndeed Weمَعَكُم(are) with youمُّسْتَمِعُونَlistening
[Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening
فَأْتِيَاSo go both of youفِرْعَوْنَ(to) Firaunفَقُولَآand both sayإِنَّاIndeed weرَسُولُ(are the) Messengerرَبِّ(of the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَ(of) the worlds
Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds
أَنْ[That]أَرْسِلْsendمَعَنَاwith usبَنِىٓ(the) Children ofإِسْرَائِيلَIsrael
[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel
قَالَHe saidأَلَمْDid not?نُرَبِّكَwe bring you upفِينَاamong usوَلِيدًا(as) a childوَلَبِثْتَand you remainedفِينَاamong usمِنْofعُمُرِكَyour lifeسِنِينَyears
[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life
وَفَعَلْتَAnd you didفَعْلَتَكَyour deedالَّتِىwhichفَعَلْتَyou didوَأَنتَand youمِنَ(were) ofالْكَافِرِينَthe ungrateful
And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful
قَالَHe saidفَعَلْتُهَآI did itإِذًاwhenوَأَنَاIمِنَ(was) ofالضَّآلِّينَthose who are astray
[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray
فَفَرَرْتُSo I fledمِنكُمْfrom youلَمَّاwhenخِفْتُكُمْI feared youفَوَهَبَBut grantedلِىto meرَبِّىmy Lordحُكْمًاjudgmentوَجَعَلَنِىand made meمِنَofالْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers
So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers
وَتِلْكَAnd thisنِعْمَةٌ(is the) favorتَمُنُّهَاwith which you reproachعَلَىَّ[on] meأَنْthatعَبَّدتَّyou have enslavedبَنِىٓ(the) Children ofإِسْرَائِيلَIsrael
And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel
قَالَsaidفِرْعَوْنُFiraunوَمَاAnd whatرَبُّ(is the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَ(of) the worlds
Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds
قَالَHe saidرَبُّLordالسَّمَاوَاتِ(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِand the earthوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَآ(is) between both of themإِنifكُنتُمyou (should) beمُّوقِنِينَconvinced
[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced
قَالَHe saidلِمَنْto thoseحَوْلَهُۥٓaround himأَلَاDo not?تَسْتَمِعُونَyou hear
[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear
قَالَHe saidرَبُّكُمْYour Lordوَرَبُّand (the) Lordاٰبَآئِكُمُ(of) your forefathersالْأَوَّلِينَthe old
[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers
قَالَHe saidإِنَّIndeedرَسُولَكُمُyour Messengerالَّذِىٓwhoأُرْسِلَhas been sentإِلَيْكُمْto youلَمَجْنُونٌ(is) surely mad
[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad
قَالَHe saidرَبُّLordالْمَشْرِقِ(of) the eastوَالْمَغْرِبِand the westوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَآ(is) between both of themإِنifكُنتُمْyou wereتَعْقِلُونَ(to) reason
[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason
قَالَHe saidلَئِنِIfاتَّخَذْتَyou takeإِلَٰهًاa godغَيْرِىother than meلَأَجْعَلَنَّكَI will surely make youمِنَamongالْمَسْجُونِينَthose imprisoned
[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned
قَالَHe saidأَوَلَوْEven if?جِئْتُكَI bring youبِشَيْءٍsomethingمُّبِينٍmanifest
[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest
قَالَHe saidفَأْتِThen bringبِهِۦٓitإِنifكُنتَyou areمِنَofالصَّادِقِينَthe truthful
[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful
فَأَلْقَىٰSo he threwعَصَاهُhis staffفَإِذَاand behold!هِىَItثُعْبَانٌ(was) a serpentمُّبِينٌmanifest
So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest
وَنَزَعَAnd he drew outيَدَهُۥhis handفَإِذَاand behold!هِىَItبَيْضَآءُ(was) whiteلِلنَّاظِرِينَfor the observers
And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers
قَالَHe saidلِلْمَلَإِto the chiefsحَوْلَهُۥٓaround himإِنَّIndeedهَٰذَاthisلَسَاحِرٌ(is) surely a magicianعَلِيمٌlearned
[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician
يُرِيدُHe wantsأَنtoيُخْرِجَكُمdrive you outمِّنْfromأَرْضِكُمyour landبِسِحْرِهِۦby his magicفَمَاذَاso whatتَأْمُرُونَ(do) you advise
He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise
قَالُوٓاْThey saidأَرْجِهِPostpone himوَأَخَاهُand his brotherوَابْعَثْand sendفِىinالْمَدَائِنِthe citiesحَاشِرِينَgatherers
They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
يَأْتُوكَThey (will) bring to youبِكُلِّeveryسَحَّارٍmagicianعَلِيمٍlearned
Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician
فَجُمِعَSo were assembledالسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansلِمِيقَاتِfor (the) appointmentيَوْمٍ(on) a dayمَّعْلُومٍwell-known
So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day
وَقِيلَAnd it was saidلِلنَّاسِto the peopleهَلْWill?أَنتُمyouمُّجْتَمِعُونَassemble
And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate
لَعَلَّنَاThat we mayنَتَّبِعُfollowالسَّحَرَةَthe magiciansإِنifكَانُواthey areهُمُthey areالْغَالِبِينَthe victorious
That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant
فَلَمَّاSo whenجَآءَcameالسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansقَالُواْthey saidلِفِرْعَوْنَto FiraunأَئِنَّIs there?لَنَاfor usلَأَجْرًاa rewardإِنifكُنَّاareنَحْنُwe areالْغَالِبِينَthe victorious
And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant
قَالَHe saidنَعَمْYesوَإِنَّكُمْand indeed youإِذًاthenلَّمِنَsurely (will be) ofالْمُقَرَّبِينَthe ones who are brought near
He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]
قَالَSaidلَهُمto themمُّوسَىٰٓMusaأَلْقُواThrowمَآwhatأَنتُمyouمُّلْقُونَ(are) going to throw
Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw
فَأَلْقَوْاSo they threwحِبَالَهُمْtheir ropesوَعِصِيَّهُمْand their staffsوَقَالُواand saidبِعِزَّةِBy the mightفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunإِنَّاindeed weلَنَحْنُsurely weالْغَالِبُونَ(are) the victorious
So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant
فَأَلْقَىٰThen threwمُوسَىٰMusaعَصَاهُhis staffفَإِذَاand behold!هِىَItتَلْقَفُswallowedمَاwhatيَأْفِكُونَthey falsified
Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified
فَأُلْقِىَThen fell downالسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansسَاجِدِينَprostrate
So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]
قَالُوٓاْThey saidاٰمَنَّاWe believeبِرَبِّin (the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَ(of) the worlds
They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds
رَبِّLordمُوسَىٰ(of) Musaوَهَارُونَand Harun
The Lord of Moses and Aaron
قَالَHe saidاٰمَنتُمْYou believedلَهُۥin himقَبْلَbeforeأَنْ[that]اٰذَنَI gave permissionلَكُمْto youإِنَّهُۥIndeed heلَكَبِيرُكُمُ(is) surely your chiefالَّذِىwhoعَلَّمَكُمُhas taught youالسِّحْرَthe magicفَلَسَوْفَso surely soonتَعْلَمُونَyou will knowلَأُقَطِّعَنَّI will surely cut offأَيْدِيَكُمْyour handsوَأَرْجُلَكُمand your feetمِّنْofخِلَافٍopposite sidesوَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْand I will surely crucify youأَجْمَعِينَall
[Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all
قَالُواْThey saidلَاNoضَيْرَharmإِنَّآIndeed weإِلَىٰtoرَبِّنَاour Lordمُنقَلِبُونَ(will) return
They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return
إِنَّاIndeed weنَطْمَعُhopeأَنthatيَغْفِرَwill forgiveلَنَاusرَبُّنَاour Lordخَطَايَانَاour sinsأَنbecauseكُنَّآwe areأَوَّلَ(the) firstالْمُؤْمِنِينَ(of) the believers
Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers
وَأَوْحَيْنَآAnd We inspiredإِلَىٰtoمُوسَىٰٓMusaأَنْ[that]أَسْرِTravel by nightبِعِبَادِىٓwith My slavesإِنَّكُمindeed youمُّتَّبَعُونَ(will be) followed
And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued
فَأَرْسَلَThen sentفِرْعَوْنُFiraunفِىinالْمَدَائِنِthe citiesحَاشِرِينَgatherers
Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers
إِنَّIndeedهَٰٓؤُلَآءِtheseلَشِرْذِمَةٌ(are) certainly a bandقَلِيلُونَsmall
[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band
وَإِنَّهُمْAnd indeed theyلَنَا[to] usلَغَآئِظُونَ(are) surely enraging
And indeed, they are enraging us
وَإِنَّاAnd indeed weلَجَمِيعٌ(are) surely a multitudeحَاذِرُونَforewarned
And indeed, we are a cautious society
فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُمSo We expelled themمِّنfromجَنَّاتٍgardensوَعُيُونٍand springs
So We removed them from gardens and springs
وَكُنُوزٍAnd treasuresوَمَقَامٍand a placeكَرِيمٍhonorable
And treasures and honorable station
كَذَٰلِكَThusوَأَوْرَثْنَاهَاAnd We caused to inherit themبَنِىٓ(the) Children ofإِسْرَائِيلَIsrael
Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel
فَأَتْبَعُوهُمSo they followed themمُّشْرِقِينَ(at) sunrise
So they pursued them at sunrise
فَلَمَّاThen whenتَرَآءَsaw each otherالْجَمْعَانِthe two hostsقَالَsaidأَصْحَابُ(the) companionsمُوسَىٰٓ(of) MusaإِنَّاIndeed weلَمُدْرَكُونَ(are) surely to be overtaken
And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken
قَالَHe saidكَلَّآNayإِنَّindeedمَعِىَwith meرَبِّى(is) my LordسَيَهْدِينِHe will guide me
[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me
فَأَوْحَيْنَآThen We inspiredإِلَىٰtoمُوسَىٰٓMusaأَنِ[that]اضْرِبStrikeبِّعَصَاكَwith your staffالْبَحْرَthe seaفَانفَلَقَSo it partedفَكَانَand becameكُلُّeachفِرْقٍpartكَالطَّوْدِlike the mountainالْعَظِيمِ[the] great
Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain
وَأَزْلَفْنَاAnd We brought nearثَمَّthereالْاٰخَرِينَthe others
And We advanced thereto the pursuers
وَأَنجَيْنَاAnd We savedمُوسَىٰMusaوَمَنand whoمَّعَهُۥٓ(were) with himأَجْمَعِينَall
And We saved Moses and those with him, all together
ثُمَّThenأَغْرَقْنَاWe drownedالْاٰخَرِينَthe others
Then We drowned the others
إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَآيَةًsurely (is) a Signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely Heالْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyالرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
وَاتْلُAnd reciteعَلَيْهِمْto themنَبَأَ(the) newsإِبْرَاهِيمَ(of) Ibrahim
And recite to them the news of Abraham
إِذْWhenقَالَhe saidلِأَبِيهِto his fatherوَقَوْمِهِۦand his peopleمَاWhatتَعْبُدُونَ(do) you worship
When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship
قَالُواْThey saidنَعْبُدُWe worshipأَصْنَامًاidolsفَنَظَلُّso we will remainلَهَاto themعَاكِفِينَdevoted
They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted
قَالَHe saidهَلْDo?يَسْمَعُونَكُمْthey hear youإِذْwhenتَدْعُونَyou call
He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate
أَوْOrيَنفَعُونَكُمْ(do) they benefit youأَوْorيَضُرُّونَthey harm (you)
Or do they benefit you, or do they harm
قَالُواْThey saidبَلْNayوَجَدْنَآbut we foundاٰبَآءَنَاour forefathersكَذَٰلِكَlike thatيَفْعَلُونَdoing
They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus
قَالَHe saidأَفَرَأَيْتُمDo you see?مَّاwhatكُنتُمْyou have beenتَعْبُدُونَworshipping
He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping
أَنتُمْYouوَآبَآؤُكُمُand your forefathersالْأَقْدَمُونَthose who are the ancient
You and your ancient forefathers
فَإِنَّهُمْIndeed theyعَدُوٌّ(are) enemiesلِّىٓto meإِلَّاexceptرَبَّ(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَ(of) the worlds
Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds
الَّذِىThe One Whoخَلَقَنِيcreated meفَهُوَand Heيَهْدِينِguides me
Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me
وَالَّذِىAnd the One Whoهُوَ[He]يُطْعِمُنِىgives me foodوَيَسْقِينِand gives me drink
And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink
وَإِذَاAnd whenمَرِضْتُI am illفَهُوَthen Heيَشْفِينِcures me
And when I am ill, it is He who cures me
وَالَّذِىAnd the One Whoيُمِيتُنِىwill cause me to dieثُمَّthenيُحْيِينِhe will give me life
And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life
وَالَّذِىٓAnd the One WhoأَطْمَعُI hopeأَنthatيَغْفِرَHe will forgiveلِىfor meخَطِيٓئَتِىmy faultsيَوْمَ(on the) Dayالدِّينِ(of) the Judgment
And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense
رَبِّMy Lord!هَبْGrantلِى[for] meحُكْمًاwisdomوَأَلْحِقْنِىand join meبِالصَّالِحِينَwith the righteous
[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous
وَاجْعَلAnd grantلِّى[for] meلِسَانَa mentionصِدْقٍ(of) honorفِىamongالْاٰخِرِينَthe later (generations)
And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations
وَاجْعَلْنِىAnd make meمِنofوَرَثَةِ(the) inheritorsجَنَّةِ(of) Garden(s)النَّعِيمِ(of) Delight
And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure
وَاغْفِرْAnd forgiveلِأَبِىٓmy fatherإِنَّهُۥIndeed heكَانَisمِنَofالضَّآلِّينَthose astray
And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray
وَلَاAnd (do) notتُخْزِنِىdisgrace meيَوْمَ(on the) Dayيُبْعَثُونَthey are resurrected
And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected
يَوْمَ(The) Dayلَاnotيَنفَعُwill benefitمَالٌwealthوَلَاand notبَنُونَsons
The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children
إِلَّاExceptمَنْ(he) whoأَتَىcomesاللهَ(to) Allahبِقَلْبٍwith a heartسَلِيمٍsound
But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart
وَأُزْلِفَتِAnd (will be) brought nearالْجَنَّةُthe Paradiseلِلْمُتَّقِينَfor the righteous
And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous
وَبُرِّزَتِAnd (will be) made manifestالْجَحِيمُthe Hellfireلِلْغَاوِينَto the deviators
And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators
وَقِيلَAnd it will be saidلَهُمْto themأَيْنَWhere?مَا(is) thatكُنتُمْyou usedتَعْبُدُونَ(to) worship
And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship
مِنfromدُونِbesidesاللهِAllahهَلْCan?يَنصُرُونَكُمْthey help youأَوْorيَنتَصِرُونَhelp themselves
Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves
فَكُبْكِبُواThen they will be overturnedفِيهَاinto itهُمْtheyوَالْغَاوُونَand the deviators
So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators
وَجُنُودُAnd (the) hostsإِبْلِيسَ(of) Iblisأَجْمَعُونَall together
And the soldiers of Iblees, all together
قَالُواْThey (will) sayوَهُمْwhile theyفِيهَاin itيَخْتَصِمُونَ(are) disputing
They will say while they dispute therein
تَاللّٰهِBy Allahإِنindeedكُنَّاwe wereلَفِىsurely inضَلَالٍerrorمُّبِينٍclear
By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error
إِذْWhenنُسَوِّيكُمwe equated youبِرَبِّwith (the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَ(of) the worlds
When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds
وَمَآAnd notأَضَلَّنَآmisguided usإِلَّاexceptالْمُجْرِمُونَthe criminals
And no one misguided us except the criminals
فَمَاSo (now) notلَنَاwe haveمِنanyشَافِعِينَintercessors
So now we have no intercessors
وَلَاAnd notصَدِيقٍa friendحَمِيمٍclose
And not a devoted friend
فَلَوْThen ifأَنَّthatلَنَاwe hadكَرَّةًa returnفَنَكُونَthen we could beمِنَofالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers
Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers
إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَآيَةًsurely is a Signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely Heالْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyالرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
كَذَّبَتْDeniedقَوْمُ(the) peopleنُوحٍ(of) Nuhالْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers
The people of Noah denied the messengers
إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherنُوحٌNuhأَلَاWill not?تَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)
When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allah
إِنِّىIndeed I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌtrustworthy
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger
فَاتَّقُواSo fearاللهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me
So fear Allah and obey me
وَمَآAnd notأَسْأَلُكُمْI ask (of) youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍpaymentإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentإِلَّاbutعَلَىٰfromرَبِّ(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَ(of) the worlds
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds
فَاتَّقُواSo fearاللهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me
So fear Allah and obey me
قَالُوٓاْThey saidأَنُؤْمِنُShould we believe?لَكَin youوَاتَّبَعَكَwhile followed youالْأَرْذَلُونَthe lowest
They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]
قَالَHe saidوَمَاAnd whatعِلْمِى(do) I knowبِمَاof whatكَانُواthey usedيَعْمَلُونَ(to) do
He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do
إِنْVerilyحِسَابُهُمْtheir accountإِلَّا(is) butعَلَىٰuponرَبِّىmy Lordلَوْifتَشْعُرُونَyou perceive
Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive
وَمَآAnd notأَنَاI amبِطَارِدِthe one to drive awayالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers
And I am not one to drive away the believers
إِنْNotأَنَاI amإِلَّاbutنَذِيرٌa warnerمُّبِينٌclear
I am only a clear warner
قَالُواْThey saidلَئِنIfلَّمْnotتَنتَهِyou desistيَانُوحُO Nuh!لَتَكُونَنَّSurely you will beمِنَofالْمَرْجُومِينَthose who are stoned
They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy Lord!إِنَّIndeedقَوْمِىmy peopleكَذَّبُونِhave denied me
He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me
فَافْتَحْSo judgeبَيْنِىbetween meوَبَيْنَهُمْand between themفَتْحًا(with decisive) judgmentوَنَجِّنِىand save meوَمَنand whoمَّعِىَ(are) with meمِنَofالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers
Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers
فَأَنجَيْنَاهُSo We saved himوَمَنand whoمَّعَهُۥ(were) with himفِىinالْفُلْكِthe shipالْمَشْحُونِladen
So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship
ثُمَّThenأَغْرَقْنَاWe drownedبَعْدُthereafterالْبَاقِينَthe remaining ones
Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones
إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَآيَةًsurely (is) a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely Heالْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyالرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
كَذَّبَتْDeniedعَادٌ(the people) of Aadالْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers
Aad denied the messengers
إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherهُودٌHudأَلَاWill not?تَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)
When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah
إِنِّىIndeed I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌtrustworthy
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger
فَاتَّقُواSo fearاللهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me
So fear Allah and obey me
وَمَآAnd notأَسْأَلُكُمْI ask youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍpaymentإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentإِلَّاexceptعَلَىٰfromرَبِّ(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَ(of) the worlds
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds
أَتَبْنُونَDo you construct?بِكُلِّon everyرِيعٍelevationاٰيَةًa signتَعْبَثُونَamusing yourselves
Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves
وَتَتَّخِذُونَAnd take for yourselvesمَصَانِعَstrongholdsلَعَلَّكُمْthat you mayتَخْلُدُونَlive forever
And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally
وَإِذَاAnd whenبَطَشْتُمyou seizeبَطَشْتُمْyou seizeجَبَّارِينَ(as) tyrants
And when you strike, you strike as tyrants
فَاتَّقُواSo fearاللهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me
So fear Allah and obey me
وَاتَّقُواAnd fearالَّذِىٓthe One Whoأَمَدَّكُمhas aided youبِمَاwith whatتَعْلَمُونَyou know
And fear He who provided you with that which you know
أَمَدَّكُمHe has aided youبِأَنْعَامٍwith cattleوَبَنِينَand children
Provided you with grazing livestock and children
وَجَنَّاتٍAnd gardensوَعُيُونٍand springs
And gardens and springs
إِنِّىٓIndeed Iأَخَافُ[I] fearعَلَيْكُمْfor youعَذَابَ(the) punishmentيَوْمٍ(of) a DayعَظِيمٍGreat
Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day
قَالُواْThey saidسَوَآءٌ(It is) sameعَلَيْنَآto usأَوَعَظْتَwhether you adviseأَمْorلَمْnotتَكُنyou areمِّنَofالْوَاعِظِينَthe advisors
They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors
إِنْNotهَٰذَآ(is) thisإِلَّاbutخُلُقُ(the) customالْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)
This is not but the custom of the former peoples
وَمَاAnd notنَحْنُweبِمُعَذَّبِينَ(are) the ones to be punished
And we are not to be punished
فَكَذَّبُوهُSo they denied himفَأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْthen We destroyed themإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَآيَةًsurely is a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers
And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely Heالْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyالرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
كَذَّبَتْDeniedثَمُودُThamudالْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers
Thamud denied the messengers
إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherصَالِحٌSalihأَلَاWill not?تَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)
When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah
إِنِّىIndeed I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌtrustworthy
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger
فَاتَّقُواSo fearاللهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me
So fear Allah and obey me
وَمَآAnd notأَسْأَلُكُمْI ask youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍpaymentإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentإِلَّاexceptعَلَىٰfromرَبِّ(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَ(of) the worlds
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds
أَتُتْرَكُونَWill you be left?فِىinمَاwhatهَاهُنَآ(is) hereاٰمِنِينَsecure
Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death]
فِىInجَنَّاتٍgardensوَعُيُونٍand springs
Within gardens and springs
وَزُرُوعٍAnd cornfieldsوَنَخْلٍand date-palmsطَلْعُهَاits spadixهَضِيمٌsoft
And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit
وَتَنْحِتُونَAnd you carveمِنَofالْجِبَالِthe mountainsبُيُوتًاhousesفَارِهِينَskillfully
And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill
فَاتَّقُواSo fearاللهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me
So fear Allah and obey me
وَلَاAnd (do) notتُطِيعُوٓاobeyأَمْرَ(the) commandالْمُسْرِفِينَ(of) the transgressors
And do not obey the order of the transgressors
الَّذِينَThose whoيُفْسِدُونَspread corruptionفِىinالْأَرْضِthe earthوَلَاand (do) notيُصْلِحُونَreform
Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend
قَالُوٓاْThey saidإِنَّمَآOnlyأَنتَyouمِنَ(are) ofالْمُسَحَّرِينَthose bewitched
They said, "You are only of those affected by magic
مَآNotأَنتَyouإِلَّا(are) exceptبَشَرٌa manمِّثْلُنَاlike usفَأْتِso bringبِاٰيَةٍa signإِنifكُنتَyouمِنَ(are) ofالصَّادِقِينَthe truthful
You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful
قَالَHe saidهَٰذِهِۦThisنَاقَةٌ(is) a she-camelلَّهَاFor herشِرْبٌ(is a share of) drinkوَلَكُمْand for youشِرْبُ(is a share of) drinkيَوْمٍ(on) a dayمَّعْلُومٍknown
He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day
وَلَاAnd (do) notتَمَسُّوهَاtouch herبِسُوٓءٍwith harmفَيَأْخُذَكُمْlest seize youعَذَابُ(the) punishmentيَوْمٍ(of) a DayعَظِيمٍGreat
And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day
فَعَقَرُوهَاBut they hamstrung herفَأَصْبَحُواthen they becameنَادِمِينَregretful
But they hamstrung her and so became regretful
فَأَخَذَهُمُSo seized themالْعَذَابُthe punishmentإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَآيَةًsurely is a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers
And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely Heالْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyالرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
كَذَّبَتْDeniedقَوْمُ(the) peopleلُوطٍ(of) Lutالْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers
The people of Lot denied the messengers
إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherلُوطٌLutأَلَاWill not?تَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)
When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah
إِنِّىIndeed I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌtrustworthy
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger
فَاتَّقُواSo fearاللهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me
So fear Allah and obey me
وَمَآAnd notأَسْأَلُكُمْI ask youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍpaymentإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentإِلَّاexceptعَلَىٰfromرَبِّ(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَ(of) the worlds
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds
أَتَأْتُونَDo you approach?الذُّكْرَانَthe malesمِنَamongالْعَالَمِينَthe worlds
Do you approach males among the worlds
وَتَذَرُونَAnd you leaveمَاwhatخَلَقَcreatedلَكُمْfor youرَبُّكُمْyour Lordمِّنْofأَزْوَاجِكُمyour matesبَلْNayأَنتُمْyouقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleعَادُونَtransgressing
And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing
قَالُواْThey saidلَئِنIfلَّمْnotتَنتَهِyou desistيَالُوطُO Lut!لَتَكُونَنَّSurely you will beمِنَofالْمُخْرَجِينَthe ones driven out
They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted
قَالَHe saidإِنِّىIndeed I amلِعَمَلِكُم(of) your deedمِّنَofالْقَالِينَthose who detest
He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]
رَبِّMy Lord!نَجِّنِىSave meوَأَهْلِىand my familyمِمَّاfrom whatيَعْمَلُونَthey do
My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do
فَنَجَّيْنَاهُSo We saved himوَأَهْلَهُۥٓand his familyأَجْمَعِينَall
So We saved him and his family, all
إِلَّاExceptعَجُوزًاan old womanفِى(was) amongالْغَابِرِينَthose who remained behind
Except an old woman among those who remained behind
ثُمَّThenدَمَّرْنَاWe destroyedالْاٰخَرِينَthe others
Then We destroyed the others
وَأَمْطَرْنَاAnd We rainedعَلَيْهِمupon themمَّطَرًاa rainفَسَآءَand evil wasمَطَرُ(was) the rainالْمُنذَرِينَ(on) those who were warned
And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned
إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَآيَةًsurely is a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely Heالْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyالرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
كَذَّبَDeniedأَصْحَابُ(the) companionsلْـَٔيْكَةِ(of the) Woodالْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers
The companions of the thicket denied the messengers
إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themشُعَيْبٌShuaibأَلَاWill not?تَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)
When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah
إِنِّىIndeed I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌtrustworthy
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger
فَاتَّقُواSo fearاللهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me
So fear Allah and obey me
وَمَآAnd notأَسْأَلُكُمْI ask (of) youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍpaymentإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentإِلَّاexceptعَلَىٰfromرَبِّ(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَ(of) the worlds
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds
أَوْفُواْGive fullالْكَيْلَmeasureوَلَاand (do) notتَكُونُواbeمِنَofالْمُخْسِرِينَthose who cause loss
Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss
وَزِنُواAnd weighبِالْقِسْطَاسِwith a balanceالْمُسْتَقِيمِ[the] even
And weigh with an even balance
وَلَاAnd (do) notتَبْخَسُواdepriveالنَّاسَpeopleأَشْيَآءَهُمْ(of) their thingsوَلَاand (do) notتَعْثَوْاcommit evilفِىinالْأَرْضِthe earthمُفْسِدِينَspreading corruption
And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption
وَاتَّقُواAnd fearالَّذِىthe One Whoخَلَقَكُمْcreated youوَالْجِبِلَّةَand the generationsالْأَوَّلِينَthe former
And fear He who created you and the former creation
قَالُوٓاْThey saidإِنَّمَآOnlyأَنتَyouمِنَ(are) ofالْمُسَحَّرِينَthose bewitched
They said, "You are only of those affected by magic
وَمَآAnd notأَنتَyouإِلَّا(are) exceptبَشَرٌa manمِّثْلُنَاlike usوَإِنand indeedنَّظُنُّكَwe think youلَمِنَsurely (are) ofالْكَٰذِبِينَthe liars
You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars
فَأَسْقِطْThen cause to fallعَلَيْنَاupon usكِسَفًاfragmentsمِّنَofالسَّمَآءِthe skyإِنifكُنتَyou areمِنَofالصَّادِقِينَthe truthful
So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful
قَالَHe saidرَبِّىٓMy Lordأَعْلَمُknows bestبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou do
He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do
فَكَذَّبُوهُBut they denied himفَأَخَذَهُمْso seized themعَذَابُ(the) punishmentيَوْمِ(of the) dayالظُّلَّةِ(of) the shadowإِنَّهُۥIndeed itكَانَwasعَذَابَ(the) punishmentيَوْمٍ(of) a DayعَظِيمٍGreat
And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day
إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَآيَةًsurely is a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely Heالْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyالرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed itلَتَنزِيلُsurely is a Revelationرَبِّ(of the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَ(of) the worlds
And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds
نَزَلَHas brought downبِهِwith itالرُّوحُthe Spiritالْأَمِينُ[the] Trustworthy
The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down
عَلَىٰUponقَلْبِكَyour heartلِتَكُونَthat you may beمِنَofالْمُنذِرِينَthe warners
Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners
بِلِسَانٍIn languageعَرَبِىٍّArabicمُّبِينٍclear
In a clear Arabic language
وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed itلَفِىsurely (is) inزُبُرِ(the) Scripturesالْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)
And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples
أَوَلَمْIs and not?يَكُنIs, beلَّهُمْto themاٰيَةًa signأَنthatيَعْلَمَهُۥknow itعُلَمَٰٓؤُا(the) scholarsبَنِىٓ(of the) Childrenإِسْرَائِيلَ(of) Israel
And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel
وَلَوْAnd ifنَزَّلْنَاهُWe (had) revealed itعَلَىٰtoبَعْضِanyالْأَعْجَمِينَ(of) the non-Arabs
And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners
فَقَرَأَهُۥAnd he (had) recited itعَلَيْهِمto themمَّاnotكَانُواthey wouldبِهِۦin itمُؤْمِنِينَ(be) believers
And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it
كَذَٰلِكَThusسَلَكْنَاهُWe have inserted itفِىintoقُلُوبِ(the) heartsالْمُجْرِمِينَ(of) the criminals
Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals
لَاNotيُؤْمِنُونَthey will believeبِهِۦin itحَتَّىٰuntilيَرَوُاthey seeالْعَذَابَthe punishmentالْأَلِيمَ[the] painful
They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment
فَيَأْتِيَهُمAnd it will come to themبَغْتَةًsuddenlyوَهُمْwhile theyلَا(do) notيَشْعُرُونَperceive
And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not
فَيَقُولُواThen they will sayهَلْAre?نَحْنُweمُنظَرُونَ(to be) reprieved
And they will say, "May we be reprieved
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَاSo is it for Our punishment?يَسْتَعْجِلُونَthey wish to hasten
So for Our punishment are they impatient
أَفَرَأَيْتَThen have you seen?إِنifمَّتَّعْنَاهُمْWe let them enjoyسِنِينَ(for) years
Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years
ثُمَّThenجَآءَهُمcomes to themمَّاwhatكَانُواthey wereيُوعَدُونَpromised
And then there came to them that which they were promised
مَآNotأَغْنَىٰ(will) availعَنْهُمthemمَّاwhatكَانُواwereيُمَتَّعُونَenjoyment they given
They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided
وَمَآAnd notأَهْلَكْنَاWe destroyedمِنanyقَرْيَةٍtownإِلَّاbutلَهَاit hadمُنذِرُونَwarners
And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners
ذِكْرَىٰ(To) remindوَمَاand notكُنَّاWe areظَالِمِينَunjust
As a reminder; and never have We been unjust
وَمَاAnd notتَنَزَّلَتْhave brought downبِهِwith itالشَّيَاطِينُthe devils
And the devils have not brought the revelation down
وَمَاAnd notيَنبَغِى(it) suitsلَهُمْ[for] themوَمَاand notيَسْتَطِيعُونَthey are able
It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able
إِنَّهُمْIndeed theyعَنِfromالسَّمْعِthe hearingلَمَعْزُولُونَ(are) surely banished
Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed
فَلَاSo (do) notتَدْعُinvokeمَعَwithاللهِAllahإِلَٰهًاgodاٰخَرَanotherفَتَكُونَlest you beمِنَofالْمُعَذَّبِينَthose punished
So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished
وَأَنذِرْAnd warnعَشِيرَتَكَyour kindredالْأَقْرَبِينَ[the] closest
And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred
وَاخْفِضْAnd lowerجَنَاحَكَyour wingلِمَنِto (those) whoاتَّبَعَكَfollow youمِنَofالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers
And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers
فَإِنْThen ifعَصَوْكَthey disobey youفَقُلْthen sayإِنِّىIndeed I amبَرِيءٌinnocentمِّمَّاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou do
And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing
وَتَوَكَّلْAnd put (your) trustعَلَىinالْعَزِيزِthe All-Mightyالرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful
And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
الَّذِىThe One Whoيَرَاكَsees youحِينَwhenتَقُومُyou stand up
Who sees you when you arise
وَتَقَلُّبَكَAnd your movementsفِىamongالسَّاجِدِينَthose who prostrate
And your movement among those who prostrate
إِنَّهُۥIndeed Heهُوَ[He]السَّمِيعُ(is) the All-Hearerالْعَلِيمُthe All-Knower
Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing
هَلْShall?أُنَبِّئُكُمْI inform youعَلَىٰuponمَنwhomتَنَزَّلُdescendالشَّيَاطِينُthe devils
Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend
تَنَزَّلُThey descendعَلَىٰuponكُلِّeveryأَفَّاكٍliarأَثِيمٍsinful
They descend upon every sinful liar
يُلْقُونَThey pass onالسَّمْعَ(what is) heardوَأَكْثَرُهُمْand most of themكَاذِبُونَ(are) liars
They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars
وَالشُّعَرَآءُAnd the poetsيَتَّبِعُهُمُfollow themالْغَاوُونَthe deviators
And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them
أَلَمْDo not?تَرَyou seeأَنَّهُمْthat theyفِىinكُلِّeveryوَادٍvalleyيَهِيمُونَ[they] roam
Do you not see that in every valley they roam
وَأَنَّهُمْAnd that theyيَقُولُونَsayمَاwhatلَاnotيَفْعَلُونَthey do
And that they say what they do not do
إِلَّاExceptالَّذِينَthose whoاٰمَنُواْbelieveوَعَمِلُواand doالصَّالِحَاتِrighteous deedsوَذَكَرُواand rememberاللهَAllahكَثِيرًاmuchوَانتَصَرُواand defend themselvesمِنfromبَعْدِafterمَاwhateverظُلِمُواthey were wrongedوَسَيَعْلَمُAnd will come to knowالَّذِينَthose whoظَلَمُوٓاْhave wrongedأَىَّ(to) what?مُنقَلَبٍreturnيَنقَلِبُونَthey will return
Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned
